A Soloable MMORPG?

I've been playing City of Heroes/Villians for about 6 months or so now. Good game, but there's not much to do except for kill things and level, and thus I am beginning to get bored with it. As such, I am now looking for a new game to try. I tend to solo about 80% of the time, so I am looking for one in which soloing is quite plausable. Any advice?

You can solo to 60 in WoW.  It'll take you one to two months depending on how much you play.  After you hit the cap however you must party to do raids.

There is no best MMORPG, only favorites.

currently wow is the most solo friendly mmorpg out there, until you hit max level as mentioned above.

i hear DAOC is pretty soloable now on the classic servers.

I've been test-driving Eve Online this past week after 4 years of playing Anarchy Online and I find it quite soloable. The other cool thing is that when you create a character you automatically get assigned to a start-up corp (sometimes known as guild). Mine has around 350 members online on average at any one time. This is great because you have access to a bunch of nice people from day one when you have questions - so you don't need to spend alot of time at the beginning of your career hunting down a guild or community. It's also funny how you can develop loyalties and friendships to what is essentially a starter guild... but for me personally it's fun to be learning things with other people who are also, more or less, learning. I hate having too much info and all the "answers" provided to me at the get-go, kinda kills the sense of exploration and wonderment.
But on days when I want to solo (which is most of the time atm since I'm busy with baby and work) it's easy to just switch off or minimize the corp channel and lose myself in the vast expanses of Eve space for an hour or three....

Just about every MMO on the market is solo-able. Some are harder than others but all of them can be solod. I know this because I've tried many of them... Matter of fact I've tried every single game in the top 20 listed on this site and several that aren't ranked that high ;)

ALL can be solo'd in.... just depends what level of difficulty you want your solo play to be at.

    End of story.

while this may be technically true, if its so hard to solo, then i see no point in soloing and saying that you can solo.

---> WoW is the game you are looking for.

There is a difference between soloable and solo friendly. Both can be challenging but only a solo friendly game will be fun. A game that is technically soloable, can be miserable to play if designed to alienate soloing like EQ2.

WoW is a solo friendly game but not challenging. It's a good game for novices and casual gamers though.

I am hoping that Pirates of the Burning Sea will be solo friendly and challenging.

I would tend to disagree with that remark.  Currently i am lvl 46 and have soloed all the way in EQ2.  Its much more challenging than WoW which for me makes it more fun.

believe it or not you can actually solo in EQ2 now and gain decent xp.. but they recently added alot of 'solo play' content and did some major fixes to combat. expecially well in my case conjurer.

but then agan they seem to split he mobs up into two catagories 'heroic' which is for a party of three or more or non heroic mobs.. and a lot of variety n the con system between that one arow up two three etc. but as a conjurer level 34 i find i can solo green heroics with three arrows or a multitude of other heroic encounters that range from blue to yellow depending on that whle arrow system. but then again pets are about 100x better then they used to be. not only can they take a beating they can tant efficiantly and hold agro well now..
