UPDATE: Earlier we received word from Playnews in Italy that Riot was working on bringing League of Legends to mobile and console platforms. We reached out to Riot, and they have asked us to let you all know that a clarification of Ilja's comments will be forthcoming tonight or tomorrow.
Original Post:
Riot Games announced during a League of Legends conference in Italy this past weekend, that a mobile version of the game is in the works. In addition, the team is not writing off the possibility of LoL on console.
"Riot Games is aware as everyone else in the Industry of the importance of mobile gaming. We have to explore it to give players a better experience," Director of Community at Riot Games Ilja Rotelli told Playnews on Saturday during the Italian League of Legends presentation event. "At the moment we don't have projects to share, but we have a group working on our expansion to mobile gaming. We're definitely considering tablets and smartphones for League of Legends.
"The same is for console gaming, consoles are going social," he added. "Every single person working at Riot Games is a gamer, so we perfectly know that PC is not the only happy island for us. We tend to consider every gamer."
We'll keep you posted on this developing story.
