We've been on a Star Trek viewing splurge lately and I have to say that going back and watching the different series, Voyager has been one of our favorites. What is yours?
Comments
1. TNG. Grew up with it.
2.Voyager I was able to catch it on tv more often than DS9. Every night TNG then Voyager.
3. DS9
4. Star Trek. A little before my time. I pretty much watched all the rerun episodes as a kid as they were constantly on. Though, if TNG, Voyager, or DS9 was on I would rather watch those.
5. Enterprise. Had some really bad episodes. Ones which were nothing but filler in the main story. I really hate that in any series. Writers drag out a story for no reason other than they need filler episodes to make the season longer as well as simply just to drag out the story. After the main story was over the writers just seemed clueless as to where to go.
I like all the shows. So for me listing them in any order doesn't really say much. If there were one I could of done without it had to be Enterprise. Great cast, I expected it to be a lot better than it was. Someone screwed that show over. Not sure if it was the writers or producer or a combination of both.
disclaimer: am not a true trek fan. i mean no disrespect with my lack of show experience and knowledge. i'll leave the bridge post haste:
1. TNG - for sure, sure, sure. In fact the theaters by me are showing in one part the Borg 2-part episode on the big screen.
Haven't watched any others, to be honest. Might need to remedy that.
Next: Favorite Movies:
1. Nemisis (I know it's most people's least favorite but I have a thing for angry misfits like Shinzon)
2. Insurrection (want to live wth the Baku)
Played: Ultima Online - DaoC - WoW -
James T. Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough! What else ya got?
The original Star Trek has always been my favorite. the rest in order are:
Enterprise
TNG
DS9
Voyager
Well, my favorite would be a toss up between the Original Series and the Next Generation but for different reasons. The Original Series had a very B-Movie campiness to it that I really enjoyed while the Next Generation had more compelling stories. They both had a great cast of characters however.
As for the rest I would put them in this order:
while(horse==dead)
{
beat();
}
For those of you that like the original series have you seen the CGI makeover they gave to the space scenes yet?
They Lucas'd it?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Not exactly.
They seem to of taken the space portion of the show shot for shot and remade them with CGI.
They stayed pretty faithful to the original models.

My favorite series is TNG. I liked how it was about mankind having bettered itself. The characters were intelligent and would use science and reason to solve their difficulties. Picard was someone who would keep his wits and would always try do the right thing. The show basically had the message that we weren't such a flawed species afterall and that there is hope for us.
The worst of the series is imo Enterprise, where they completely shifted the tone. The crew are generally misfits. (except the aliens) Scientific exploration takes a backseat to action and adventure, they rather 'meet new people' than study some space phenomenon. Vulcans are no longer englightened beings, but arrogant and deceitful. Basically tearing down the people who were the embodiement of reason and make the audience distrust them instead. I felt that the writers tried destroy the heritage of TNG by no longer promoting humanistic ideals, and an anti-intellecual message instead.
Deepspace 9 was overall good. Intelligent writing, great characters.
With Voyager I felt that the idea was good, but it could have been so much better. The show could have been about them struggeling to survive, but in fact it was mostly the other way around. The races they met were in fact the ones struggleing and needed their help. Wasted opportunity imo.
