remember warhammer? serious all these talk about foundation is pointless. The major flaw in warhammer that caused massive exodus was server lag and server crash.

And here I thought it was because at rank 40 it was a boring game of swapping undefended keeps to complete dailies with a lackluster renown rank system.
Could happen, no word on what sort of engine they'll employ or how they'll manage player traffic.
Warhammer had issues in this area, likely this title will have some too, but I'm pretty sure Mark is aware of the importance of trying to find the best compromises to keep things stable and working.
(not saying he'll pull it off, remains to be seen of course)

maybe its b/c its the same guy in charge who thought it was ok to release the game with server crashes left and right back in warhammer beta?
So, you're one of those people. Warhammer Online had a lot of issues, but blaming one dude among many for all the faults of the game is pretty ridiculous. You don't blame the carpenter that built your house because of electrical issues... you take it up with the two bit electrician that cut corners.
My name is Plastic-Metal and my name is an oxymoron.
I do understand that a lot of people feel the need to adress their complaints somewhere. What I don´t understand is how you actually can be serious about blaming a single person for the failures of such a major project. Its not like Mark didn´t want the game to be different.
He made mistakes. He apologized. Againd and again. At some point it is enough, seriously. If someone is cautious because he still doubts Marks honesty or capability as a developer, well - no once is forced to donate here.
But could we please stop discussing the same things over and over again? I stopped playing DAoC because of ToA as well and I wasn´t happy how WAR turned out to be either. But even if Mark, as someone quite at the top of the foodchain during those decision makings, has done his mistakes, that were a part of why some things became a failure, he was just one guy after all. AND he was a big part of all the great things and ideas too - which people here tend to forget somehow.
There is no way I would even try to guess how everything happened internally, but common sense should be enough to at least consider, that a big publisher like EA and hundreds of employees might have done their part too.

Maybe this is one of the reasons they're taking this project down the independant publishing path? They actually get to decide when it's ready to release..

That's the good thing about Kickstarters, we get design decision making fans into the game at a very early state. and the developers will have to listen

But well - people love their scapegoats, I guess.
