Seriously these background ads for Scarlet Blade, nothing but porn, do these realy encourage poeple to try the game? pathetic, desperate marketing at it's best... shameful.
Well... If you think the Scarlet Blade ads are porn you obviously don't know what porn is. They are cheesecake at the very most. Are they in bad taste? Maybe... but that certainly does not make them porn.
I don't dispute that MMORPG has advertisers and no doubt Aeria did a substanstial ad buy for the splash pages. I won't even argue that most MMORPGs of the past 5-10 years have their own versions of this (Antonia Bayle from EQ2 and the "evil" version of Miela from Rift etc etc.) What I don't like is having it shoved in my face on every page I visit in MMORPG, when I'm trying to actually read about something other than the Girls of Scarlet Blade. We can only hope it's not a days long campaign.

But... but... but... that solution means that everyone whose skin is a lot thicker than mine doesn't have to bend to my whims and fancies!
Games where we shoot, stab, murder, and maim other people: NO PROBLEM!
Tits: HOLYSHITOMG THE LACK OF MORALS!
This isn't about violence vs. sex. Some would probably also have issues if the background splash pages had bloodspray and dismembered bodies everywhere. Does that help to clarify? This isn't about morals. It's about having sex OR gore shoved in your face when trying to use a site for other purposes. Yes we can choose to go elsewhere. No one is starting a boycott campaign, it's just a gripe.
This isn't exactly a new thing. Sex sells. MMORPG.com caters to a wide variety of gamers, many of whom search for cheap MMO's to play. The fact is that most of these free MMO's are low budget and need to use gimicks such as this to attract new players.
I have a moral dilema with it, sure. I don't play such games, but I understand MMORPG.com's need to make a profit as well.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
It is not the fault of a company full of hungry employees with hungry families to feed that they glom on to anything that will make a sale. It is the fault of the buyer. It's like saying a beautiful woman was "asking for it" when she got raped because she was well endowed, walks nice, smells pretty, and has a lovely smile. It is not her fault. Look at the source of lust for blame. I am not about to tell women they have to wear Burqasevery second because I couldn't control my own feelings. I wont tell game advertisers to cool it, either - UNLESS it's all there is then that would get annoying. I don't mind lust in games and I would support a pornish game if anyone made one. But speaking of all there is, I hate the check out line at the store. Those boob pushing magazines offend me because there is not an equal representation of effeminate males. It's too much fem flaunt.
It's a good thing actually. It automatically lets you know that game has to stoop that low for attention and therefore a terrible a game that should be avoided.

Side boobs everywhere. I think it's vapid but funny.
The faces look really weird though...I think it's the noses. Anime/2d faces just look weird with detailed noses I think.
