Anyone feel like a SWG Refugee now??

DirossDiross Member Posts: 179

Man, I feel like a SWG "refugee" (or evacuee)  now that SWG has gone down the toilet. Seeing the playerbase dwindle to nothing now and most my friends leave the game this week was a real learning experience to me about MMORPG's and how the playerbase and Game Devs relate to one another.

Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.

Well yes, refugee is the right word... I dont dislike change... i just dislike the changes made in my main game... I have been playing for over a year, adjusted to the first CU but this is just too much...

But I am left with a question... which game to play now... I need a game with a similar combat style to pre NGE SWG?  And to be honest... have no idea where to start looking...

Well, it appears that lots of the SWG (NGE) Ex-players are moving on to various games. Seems a lot of them are going to Dark & Light which is comming out soon.

Evacuee sounds about right too. Don't you know everyone leaves a ship when it's sinking.

I feel like exile. I am angry that I am forced to leave SWG and same time I am starting to slowly develope hate everything related to Star Wars industry.  So a bit biased mood, I hate that I am forced to leave and I hate what I have just left behind.

Few days ago I finished first time another half-ready Lucasarts game - Kotor 2. It wasn't so bad - only end was clearly "this-is-not-ready-game-to-release" quality. Currently I am modding new clothes for my new dark side Kotor mistress (all evil female characters must wear something sexy, black and shiny).

Not sure what I am going to after I have finished Kotor's dark side story. Most likely I am going to buy CoV and hit my claws to fresh meat. However, CoV is too similar with CoH. I will bet that I am going to get bored CoV's mission grind in first month.

I am also "playing" EvE-online. Normal daily routine is to check my sales, start manufacturing items that are in low supply, mine some minerals and check my skill training progress. However, "playing" EvE feels like work. It could be fun in big guild and in big space battle, but daily routine is boring and it is hard to immerse my character.

So if anyone can recommend good adventure/action-adventure/roleplaying scifi game that doesn't have too much "magic" elements, let me know. Preferable something similar with DeusEx 1 and Kotor 1.

Kinda funny when I think about this...

A couple of weeks before the news about the NGE, my SWG PA sorta fell apart. Most of us moved on and made a new PA called Excommunicated. Little did we know that a couple of weeks down the road, the devs decided to do just that to us by dropping the NGE bomb on us. I don't think there will be any of us left in the game after this. It seems quite fitting to keep the name now and move to another MMORPG.

I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

It's funny, I see all the people here saying there is no problem with the NGE, and everyone just loves it.  However, there are so many new posts in the forum from new people, like myself.  I'm sure it goes something like, look for new MMORPG to play, do a google search...hey there must be some good opinions about games at MMORPG.com, while I'm here, hey lets see what people are like in the sWG forum.

I say the game is going downhill, 2 rewrites in 6 months smells like desparation...that's my only reasoning and I could easily be wrong.  However, what ever direction the game goes, it can do it without me.
