Thats right...

DDO is a game geared to make you think and decide what will happen based on your actions.

I see many posts here from people that say DDO = Guild Wars blah blah...well.

Thank God DDo is NOTHING lke it.

We all know the kiddies (L33t Dudettes) ect have NO understanding of the D&D world! (Those that did take their time to learn it..Kudos to you)

This game and its rules IS the Grandfather of ALL your current MMOs in this world. Without the Pen and Paper Genre none of what you "L33T Dudettes" would be playing anything at all pretty much.

I wont go into much more here (I can go on and on about how much people complain about how DDO isnt like this or that game and it sucks type of attitude alot of you have) but I will post a link to the most up to date Ruleset that D&D has and I wonder how many of you REAL RPers will stick around or shove a foot in your mouth when you realize there isnt any "I WIN" buttons to see you thru.

So all you Anti-DDO Kiddies...I'm telling YOU: "You dont know nothing about DDO until you read and understand the Ruleset"

Can anyone say generalizations? How about stereotyping? You're not fooling anyone.

IF DDO followed the D&D rules then your statement would make sense.

Sadly it doesn't.  Just like every other Fantasy MMO Turbine is just picking and choosing which rules to follow.  They may have gained the legal rights to use the D&D name, but DDO is no more then a bad cover of the D&D franchise... much like The (new) Dukes of Hazard was a horrible remake.

    Correct....

As I was saying..it's a good idea to read over that ruleset to familiarize yourself with the ruleset as alot of it WILL be implemented in DDO.

If you dont know anything at all about it you find it more difficult to understand and it could ruin your fun.

Best to get a head start. It is alot to read but in no way are you required to know it all to play DDO. It will however boost your knowledge to make life more enjoyable once you do get to set foot in the DDO world.

I have to ask...have you even played this game yet? I highly doubt it.

In no way do you need to actually know anything about D&D 3.5 to play DDO, and the lack of knowledge will in no way make gameplay more difficult or confusing.

    You're assuming waaay too much.

EDIT: In fact, certain changes that they have made may very well make the game more confusing for those who DO have D&D experience. Trust me, I know.

Funny...the original rules for D&D stated that all or any of them were to be changed by the players as they like. Guess there's no more role playing games, even my favorite has become a roll playing game. ::sigh::

Let's just say that DDO is a lot easier to play and the chance you will gimp your character a lot less if you have played the PnP game 3rd Edition+. This game really doesn't work as a "real" MMO. MMO enthusiasts who aren't PnP DnD fans are going to be very dissapointed with the game. The problem for the devs of DDO will be to make a game that will be embraced by it's niche market. They really aren't that game yet either. Too much compromise from the PnP rule on fundamental issues like XP and combat.

I can imagine that someone in the stress test would find some great use for their 3rd edition rulebooks...
