Looking for a F2P or B2P game for a healer.

FyendiarFyendiar Member UncommonPosts: 250

I used to be all into mmo gaming, but lately things changed, my cashflow went down the drain, playing a lot more singleplayer games and now I am looking for a great, or at least as great as a F2P or B2P can be from a healer perspective. Yeah I know, probably not much chance, but I have more faith in the community's knowledge of this site than my own so I hope you know of one.

Let me start with what I want, because let's face it, it is the only thing that realy maters in the end. I am not looking for the best game overall, but the best game that might fit within the boundaries I will have to work with for the time being.

1. It has to be fantasy based.

2. There has to be at least one healer specialized class, so Guild Wars for example albeit a great game, does not count simply because it lacks this bit.

3. PvE focused. I have near zero interest in PvP content, so for me it is PvE all the way.

4. Preferably not asian style graphics, or better said: western style.

5. Yes, this last one is proof I have gotten rather spoiled over the years and became a graphics junkie. the graphics need to be good. That said, it may be heavily stylised, so to make an example Warcraft 3 although ages old and waaaaaay lost in the history of "good graphics" still has great graphics to me, but Doom 3 for example does not. The reason I make this remark is because stylized graphics have a far longer "still looks great" period than games that go for the so called photorealistic approach.

Any help would be exellent!

Thanks upfront!

    TERA.

Surprised? So was I. Playing a priest has been the most fun I've had healing since... well maybe ever. I put off trying TERA for a long time but it's worth a try. The F2P is very good too.

A few thoughts off the bat:

TERA - best healing of any MMO hands down. The action combat puts you in the fight, no staring at the UI. The game does have it's drawbacks but it will keep you busy for at least a few months. It does have Asian style graphics but they look good IMO.

RaiderZ - also action combat game with combat somewhat similar to TERA, although less forgiving since the healer can't carry as much as the healer classes in TERA can. Not as high quality but still a good game and centered around group PvE monster hunting.

Neverwinter - not out yet but supposedly soon. Has action combat as well and of course very fantasy based PvE focused game. The cleric class needs some fixes based on the beta I just played but they've already said they're doing that so this could turn out to be a fun one.

If you want to go the tab target route:

Aion - this is one of the few quality F2P games that might fit your description but keep in mind it's very gear grind based

The Secret World - tab target but has dodging, etc. so it's more hybrid than a typical tab target. Does have three different healer weapons you can spec into and a few support weapons as well. It's not fantasy based game, it's actually more modern day but still very cool and has interesting PvE content. This one is B2P.

There's no perfect game right now and personally I'm playing a few right now while I wait for the next good game to invest my time in more long term/hardcore.

Dungeons and dragons online is worth a try, clerics always seem wanted there.  Wether or not neverwinter will be better(I personally doubt it) will have to be something you find out if you try both.

Everquest II and Vanguard come to mind. Both have a couple of different healer types. VG is fully PvE and EQ2 has only 1 PvP server and a dozen PvE servers to play on...

Eden Eternal is the best bet for me.

The game is mostly all PvE I never even did anything that had to deal with fighting another player, it's mostly about being with friends and going through hard dungeons with guild or party memebers to deafet the boss and extend in the story of the game.

And don't get me started on the healer class, YOU NEED, and I really mean NEED a healer when you get towards the 3rd dungeon.  I mean people wait outside the dungeon cave for a healer to come by and be like, "LFP."  And if you ever get tired of being a healer you don't have to create an whole new character, you can change your class in the game anytime you want.

I know its seems kiddish at first, but if you get past the cute monsters you'll love it for sure.

An underrated game, Eden Eternal is if you ask me.

And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

I'm not sure what kind of PVE content your looking for (solo, small group, instance, raid, etc.) but EQ2 is always looking for healers especially plate and chain based ones.  There are 6 classes of healers broken up into three armor types so a good deal to choose from.

I would check out the minstrel in LOTRO, this one is my favorite.  Plus LOTRO has a great community.
