i agree, i can't wait for Vanguard it looks visually stunning, the content seems fairly fresh..how original can you really be with all that is out there, it will seem familiar no matter what...But at any rate, this game looks interesting and i look forward to playing it when it comes out.
When is the release date, is there open beta at all or have i missed sign up?

There is no relase date yet other than 2006. I'd say that it will be released between april and october since they want a 9-12 months beta.
i don't think vanguard is a wow killer no....eq2 killer maybe though. vanguard will be a hardcore pve game not geared for pvp or casual play really.
and we all know thats what wow's fan base is...they are casual players and they like pvp (generally).
if vanguard did get a big chunk of wow's player base i will not be happy about that, because i want a strong community thats mature. i cannot stand wow's community and thats is the main reason why i quit the game.
either way it wont matter in the long run, vanguard will have their player base regardless of what wow does IMHO

I doubt it will be a WoW killer. They aren't trying to be. Sigil is going for a certain type of player, and from all I've seen, they will get it. Those who really like WoW will mostly stay with WoW. Those who have been looking for something geared more toward adventure and greater risk vs. reward will find it with Vanguard.
the only thing that will kill WoW ... is WoW itself

Its not going to be a WoW killer because its not aiming for the same market. VG is more along the lines of old EQ, where progress is going to be slow but rewarding. Will this be as popular as WoW? Again most likely not, but Sigil isnt making this game to break records, but to get a thriving community for a good long time.
One person here mentioned community being important.
The guild I was in on SWG was about 30 really close members....so close in fact that we had RL meets on many occasions in a few locations in the US. We are all leaving SWG together...and waiting in WOW (lacking in community in our opinion) until a more complex game arrives.....Crafting is big to some of us.....PVE is big....PVP is not.....we want community/guild tightness.....group hunts/quests are our love and hanging out and being good friends is paramount!
Will Vanguard deliver? I can't say, but I can say it's in my top 3 picks for sure.....and one more thing (most of us were 2 year vets of SWG so committment we have for a high learning curve)
And...the main reason i posted was to get my posting feet wet...hi gang.

Well said. Dont know why people think Vanguard would kill completly different kind of game in this case WoW. Its like saying Vanguard will kill Tetris...
The only "kiddies' I see are the Vanguard posters. Your game isn't even going to launch, the biggest joke is thinking you can match WoW's numbers. Shows the huge egos and lack of brains Vanguard will have for its player base!
With all the WoW bashing posted by the idiots on Vanguard boards, none will play. Where you going to get players EQ? Hahaha, that PUNY little game! With 1/10 of the player base of WoW? All of them are quitting EQ so vanguard launches? Right, dream on.

Vangaurd is going no where and certainly not challenging a game that has now surpassed 4 MILLION players subscribed! EQ sold 1.1 million copies and has a mere 430,000 players.
Yea, and we know, the kiddies play EQ and look forward to Vanguard for the "End game", you kiddies have a lot of time on your hands to waste on MMORPGs. Your numbers and lack of income won't support it though.
Yea, EQ was so hard I used to 3 box to avoid the morons who couldn't play. I know 5-6 boxers! I heard of ONE player who boxes in WoW. Shows which is harder when multi-boxers abound because its so damn slow and boring you need multiple characters for a challenge.
Your personnal attack has been noted and reported. The continue bashing of WoW by the Vanguard kiddies does more to illustrate who is interested in Vangaurd, a game that hasn't even been released. WoW has 4 million players, no other game is close except Lineage 1 and Lineage II.
I posted a PROFESSIONAL source that has the same feeling I do about Vanguard, please post a PROFFESIONAL in this field who thinks WoW has failed!! There are none.
4 million players laugh at your opinion of WoW. Vanguard in no way will ever be the success WoW is, that is if--yes IF, Vanguard even launches!

if your going to insult a person or people in a post you better be ready to be insulted right back. BTW having 4 million subscribers is fine and great for wow but it does not mean vanguard wont be successful.
nobody has said wow has failed nitwit, and if they did they are a idiot to. any opinion on how successful vanguard will be at this point is pure speculation i don't care if you are a "professional"
