This just it - the game isn't going to come out unless it gets backed. CSE is asking the market (that would be us, the players) to tell them what we want. If there is enough interest, they will make it, if there isn't... well, why make a game that people don't want to play?

So the current kickstarter is as much a vote for the actual game (which doesn't exist beyond concepts and ideas atm) as it is a vote for the concept the game is based on - tri-realm RvR with little to no focus on PvE.  If that's a game you want to play, well, better back this up because no one else is making this type of a game.

I agree. and one more thing for me backing up in kickstart not to buy  somthing but to help somone achive his goal(oky getting into the beta is nice:) )

    AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH.....MY EYES.....I'VE BEEN BLINDED!

    Yeah...thats not good.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

They are probably shills for some large publisher and fear what could happen if games are actually made and even maybe succeed without big money backing them that people would stop falling for reskinned sequels.

Would a large publisher really care about a game that hasn't even put together a prototype?

Probably not.  Later down the road, that statement might make sense, but for now it's comical at best..

How many subs for DAoC? *$15/mo.*12=revenue/yr.

I'm sure this is in millions and I wouldn't like to lose any tpe of revenue....specially revenue that has low maintenance/overhead.

Don't kid yourself companies employ tactics like this all the time

Why is it people bother to type out a whole thread asking questions they can look up themselves?

There is no hype. There are excited people who were fans of the Daoc who heard of the possibility of a pseudo-sequel by it's old creator. Kickstarter is what's driving the hype by it's very nature as it is a marathon to collect pledges. You can balance that against the current shit stock of mmos and the so called savior mmos still awaiting release ... we still exist in the themepark no-mans-land era of mmo's so anything excites players missing the chance to play the games they actually want right now.

Now go @#$%ing google the rest you lazy ...

    You stay sassy!

The game has potential, but as for the distant release MMOs, I think Black Desert and World of Darkness have a lot more potential.

ermm sorry but this game is hyped out the wazzo, i think you should read a bit more of all the posts on this game before you make a judgement such as this.

also if we cant ask questions about games on this foroum then what is the point of these forums,

i suggest you take a step back breath deep pull the stick out your third point of contact, and hit yourself with it.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.

If there's one thing they love around here, it's a game that's in potentia. The most popular game will always be the one that's not released yet because it can and, in the minds of the faithful, will be whatever they want it to be. Toss in some buzzword bingo -- PvP! RvR! DAoC! Sandbox! -- and you're golden.

Not exactly a tough market to crack if you know your audience, and if there's one thing the person behind this has shown, it's that he knows his audience.

    Some real truth here.

A game never released has also never failed.  A game never developed has every feature anyone could have dreamed possible, and then some.  Actually, creating the master game in everyones head is likely more powerful than showing off a disappointing alpha.  A demo could be picked apart to shreds .. but an idea lives on forever.

There can be only one final design though, so there will be some broken hearts at some point.  The budget is very small, so expecting a AAA MMO with features galore is a little absurd.

Why the hype OP? Well to be frank it's a new game built on an OLD name a lot of people feel a strong degree of NOSTALGIA  for in a time where they have been exposed to one too many titles that didn't live up to the hype. So it gets time and attention from people wanting to revisit the good old days when playing these titles was still fun to them. That written, it's not unusual for this to occur and it might be a solid title in its own right. For the moment it's still dollar grind, potential, and forum erm... prostitution.
