When Xsyon and Salem characters go to sleep at night, they dream they are in Planet Explorers.

This game doesn't look like it's going to get funded, which is a shame because it definitely does have promise.

While I'm a fan of PVP, I really like that they are building a fun sandbox experience and not relying on FFA PVP to do it.

Alpha is free to download and try, and I encourage everyone who likes the ideas behind sandbox MMOs but odesn't care for the FFA PVP to check it out.

The little bit I have played of this game is pretty amazing. Try the alpha..its free.

While i like what I've seen, its not my kind of game so i really wouldn't play it, im sure if enough of its target market is found it would get funded.

What is pretty amazing is the mod tool I have built something never thought I could and never modded anything until now,and then to be able to play with it in game or share it with others is pretty damn cool, still got hopes for the KS there is always a push at the end of campaigns and the publicity is doing them a world of good, the devs are not going to be to dispondant as they can carry on still Indiegogo is still an option if all else fails and Greenlight seems a real possibility as well.

I gave the alpha a try, and its an amazing game.  Like minecraft but with more realistic graphics and lots of neat building options like turrets and vehicles.

You'd be crazy to not try this game if you like sandbox games at all.

There are two weeks to go. They would have to start their second push in the next few days or they lose their window of opportunity. If you look at Kickstarter campaigns that had good final pushes, they had two things in common - a good marketing team and a lot of connections in the industry. That combination etends the reach of the second push and gets the rally going that is needed to essentially double what they have now.

If I was Pathea, I'd create a set of images in standard small ad and icon sizes that say things like

    • Support Planet Explorers
    • Try it! FREE Alpha download
    • planetexplorers.pathea.net

    • Kickstart Planet Explorers
    • FREE Alpha download
    • Seeing is believing! planetexplorers.pathea.net

    • I backed Planet Explorer
    • Try it and see why.
    • Free download at planetexplorers.pathea.net

or other direct messaging. Then share the images with the community and ask them to get the message out using the images. I'd also get a pledge link, box or even a violator on http://pathea.net/planet-explorers  and http://planetexplorers.pathea.net . Between those two landing pages only one mentioned Kickstarter and it's nothing more than a "Kickstarter" link that goes to the funding page.

A Facebook page and some Twitter activity wouldn't hurt either.

And while IndieGoGo may be a possibility, anyone with half a brain will avoid an IndieGoGo campiagn as a followup to a Kickstarter campaign, which means they will probably get much less funding for that second round. It would make more sense to shift into messaging overdrive and get this campaign steamrolling forward to its goal.

Voxels seem to be making a comeback thanks to indie games and the Unreal 4 engine.Makes me nostalgic for the old novalogic sim games.

Ok I just spent 4 solid hours playing this game. Its actually a great deal of fun. Kind of a Spore meets Oregon trail in space game. The building and creating aspect is engrossing(I've never played minecraft).

I'm supporting it. If the alpha is this fun(and bug free so far for me) a fully supported and finished product is going to be fantastic.

Had the game a while back, for reasons unknown I've deleted the install. Anyway downloaded it again installed it this time. And it's sure can become a sort of 3d minecraft hit.

Till now I only explored and mainly ran away from strange wierd creature's, started to get to know the ui options and.....found my shovel...whohoo going for the 100/100 stone. The cool part was I was unaware of being able to dig a whole deep enough I would fall into some underground section. At first I thought bug, but quickly realizing I could dig inside for better change at stone. And eventually saw a way to dig myself back on the surface.

I havn't yet got a good understanding of it's combat system, equiped the knife, it obviously does better damage then fist, but everytime I hunt something I think is small enough for me to kill something very big comes at me and I stand no chance.

Even though I could consider myself a graphics whore I do enjoy the visual aspect of PE, with a game like this it's really more about the depth of gameplay for me.

I guess you could describe this game like "Minecraft meets Ryzom".

Not in the mood for collecting materials and crafting tools, etc etc, but I can easily see there's plenty of people who are going to love this game.

Currently there's some things to make it less of a hassle in that way.  Like, you can ctrl-click and drag, to place an entire floor or wall at once.  And you can send your companion out to work and they'll come back with a bunch of resources (currently just wood on the npc I had).

So, if they keep expanding on things like that you could avoid a lot of the grind and focus more on the story and combat, both of which have been fun so far.

I've been kinda lazy about actually gathering resources myself, but I got enough for some minimal structures and a ton of wood from a follower, and you can make turrets (just wood) and torches (wood and animal fat) from just that and stuff you get from animals, so I set up a warzone by a natural bridge I built on to keep it generally safe, even at night:

All in all, been having a fun time with it so far.

Giant beast attacked my home, my 4 cannons took him out but not before he bashed a huge hole in my wall lol:

Monsters being able to destroy things, but players having automatic defenses to protect their things, really allows for some fun building.

if this were a MMO id back it in a second.. for a single player game with co-op options i dunno.. ill consider it..

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Please back this amazing game up guys. It's like a more detailed Minecraft crossed with Borderlands and Spore!

I tunneled in under my crashed ship and started there. Nighttime has proven rather scary so I use that time to duck inside and build.

Nighttime is very scary in Planet Explorers, those creepy spiders that run at you while your back is turned, and then run off when you attack them, then stare at you with those glowy eyes from a distance in the dark heh.  That quickly made me take to making fortied positions, tho I tend to avoid caves ever since I saw a natural one filled with spiders.

I've taken to building more levels of defenses and placing torches everywhere:

I've had spiders run at me and get blasted to death before they can run away now heh.  Had to raise up my cannons and keep the lower quality stuff more accessible, so that enemies waste their time on destroying cheaper stuff while the good stuff kills them.  My home is like a war zone lol.

I played this game ALL weekend long.  Simply amazing!  Such a breath of fresh air.  The seamless land area is as large or larger than many mmos.  Lots of little bugs but it's currently alpha.   Have already donated on Kickstarter and am hoping for the best.

Tabletop RPG gaming since Chainmail and D&D was a blue book with some cheap plastic dice and a crayon. MMORPGing since MOOS/MUDS, when forums were just bulletin boards and players actually roleplayed their characters.

This game should have much more hype. Played it ALL weekend! So much fun!

Can't believe how easy it is to design a car and such in this, took me a few minutes to set up a nice unique basic one:

Tho I need to redesign it, as I made it too low to the ground and it got stuck on the first uneven ground I came too.

Can't stress enough that anyone who enjoys sandbox should try this out, it's insanely fun to setup bases and design vehicles and weapons, and then go to war with the wildlife heh.

How did you get your followers to collect wood? o.O
