Blizzard's World of Warcraft has announced that they are unveiling a new feature. Parental controls. Parents will now be able to manage their accounts in such a way as to schedule play times for their families.

We are proud to unveil our new parental control system for World of Warcraft, which allows account owners to create play schedules for their accounts. With the parental control system, you can determine when your World of Warcraft account is accessible. This system can be used, for example, to ensure that your children only play during predetermined hours, such as after homework is done or on weekends.     This is good now all you parents out there limit them to playing between 6am - 7am when no one else is.

    I bet that woman catching her kid infamously posting on the Warcraft forums in the early hours had a lot to do with it.

    I think this feature is actually a plus for younger kids. The parents of the ones who play all they want probably will never know about this. But the kids who can't play period because they "Play too much" or whose parents have the whole cpu passworded to limit gameplay can show this to their parents to convince them they are in control. Most kids would rather play 2 hours every day then when their parents feel like letting them play or are home to type in the computer password.
