Looking For Participants For Our Research About MMORPG Games

Hello dear MMORPG community,

I'm Süleyman Kula from Turkey. We're trying to reach as many online communities as possible for our research about 'Exploration of Motives for Playing Online Games'. We're looking for people to participate in our survey about their online gaming experiences.

We'd like you to join our survey, assuming that you have online gaming background (especially with MMORPG games). By participating, you'd contribute to our research invaluably.

    It's fairly short and to the point. Doesn't take a lot of time to finish it.

    What will the results be used for? Will we have the ability to view the results when the data is compiled?

    Hi,

    Really sorry about late answer. I haven't received any email notifications and just saw your messages.

    @KaylettaJade I'll use the results for my university research paper homework. And when the research is finished, I'll try to share the results here as well.

    I've also made some changes on the survey so that you don't have to give demographic information anymore but you are encouraged to at least fill in Gender and Age options.

    Currently I'm at 220 participants which is great. Thanks to the participants :) My current goal is 250.

    P.S: Why do I have 1.5 stars :P

    Done, and I gave you some feedback as well. As to your 1.5 Stars, I wouldn't pay much attention, it is just a site ranking. The more you interact, the more your stars go up. If you go away for a while, they'll drop back down too.

    Just finished the survey. I left a few comments at the end which I hope will help you refine your research. Another thing I think would be interesting to see is where people got started playing games in general, like online vs. offline and multiplayer vs. single player.

    I played WoW up until WotLK, played RoM for 2 years and now Rift.
    I am F2P player. I support games when I feel they deserve my money and I want the items enough.
    I don't troll, and I don't take kindly to trolls.

    Did the survey as well, because what better use of my time is there? Haha, but anyways I tried to answer as truthfully as possible to help in this research being done.

    38% are between 17 and 21? I thought that an older age bracket would have been tops.
    42% make less than $5000/year? Wow...
    60% have spent more than 7 years paying online games? I found that surprising.
    36% for moderate difficulty and 39% for hard surprised me. I did not expect so much for a hard difficulty.

    I know you did this for a paper, but thanks again for sharing this with us :)

    Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.
