In a second developer blog on the Defiance site, Executive Producer Nathan Richardsson writes about improvements that have occurred over the weekend including the stabilization of the XBox server issues. While things are getting better, however, Richardsson said the team is still actively monitoring several key issues and working to resolve them.
That being said, we prioritize our development team in general categories just as we prioritize what individual issues we work on. If a person has anything in the highest category, that person works on that before anything else. This is how it looks right now.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
Actually it was there this morning when I looked of course I am on the West Coast...we get everything last...LOL!!!!
Agreed...And they have me extremely intrigued as to how they are going to mesh the Show and the Game. There seems to be a lot of people who just don't get that it is an MMO that will be ping-ponging back and forth for dynamic content. Especially people who claim to have "finished" or "beat" the game then say they are bored. REALLY?!?!?!? You can never "beat" an MMO, you may have finished the current content, but even at that you can never truly "finish" an MMO either. Sorry for the rant...Anyway, ENJOY the game it is fun once the show starts it should make for a very cool experience. ;-)
DLC should removed from your list of topics for a while, you have alot of patchwork to do.
A week ago I thought this is great console is finally getting a real social upgrade. I didnt realize how bad the culture was. One of your topics should be how to socialize because console player culture doesnt understand yet. Not trying to be a smart ass just been enlightened over the past week.
How do you figure? The controls are EXACTLY like GW2 and every other FPS. Could you elaborate? WASD for moving. Q for changing weapons. E opens/uses. C for crouch. The menu system is definately set up like a console (i.e. the wheel).
Its not a bad game, it has potential though yes, definently needs some tweaks. Not really to surprised it came out with issues. Trion seems to really enjoy spending a lot of time tweaking their things and Defiance coming out as a tv show forces its hand quite strictly.
Either way its an interesting game for sure, I might actually go buy it sometime if my desire is sparked enough, perhaps after issues are fixed up just as something to kill time when I'm bored. Its just not one of those titles that makes me want to jump on at launch and deal with launch issues that, lets not be complacent here, those issues happen on EVERY game.
You exactly prove his point! Q for changing weapons. E opens/uses. C for crouch. Spacebar for jumping.
Pretty much matching the 4 color buttons for Console controllers.
GW2 is available on the console? At the end of the day there are only SO many actions one can program into the game for a button push. My point is, at no point with any of the defaults do I feel like I need to plug in my 360 controller (unlike SOME games... DCUO...)
From my experience with both, PC version is far superior. I dont know what's up with all the hate about the control scheme, it works well enough and you can easily recustomize it if you like. For example the dodge button is awkwardly placed on left alt, so I just refunctioned it to a button on my mouse. The only thing you can't really fix is the menu design, but after a little bit of playing you get used to it and it's not much of a hindrance anymore.
That being said, I'm not really recommending you get either copy. For me the game was fun at first but I quickly lost interest. I did play it for a solid 15 hours though, so considering the price tag I guess I got my money worth when you compare it to most single player action games.
I don't see the problem here? What would an ideal layout be for you? E or F is open/use in a lot of PC games. Q is in my experience often used for just that, switching weapons, or throwing grenades or leaning to the left in some FPS games. C or CTRL is pretty much standard for crouch. Space has been used for jumping since forever.
<childish, provocative and highly speculative banner about your favorite game goes here>
The only thing control wise that really isn't well done on PC is the dodge mechanic. For console or when you have a controller hooked up its double tapping B to dodge, on PC you have to hold alt. Would be a lot better if double tapping WASD keys was the default means of dodging, but other than that controls in general aren't bad.
The menu setup is more for console though which I still hope gets improved and made more in line with PC gamers.
Im Shocked this is what 5 years of developent looks like. There are regular shooter with better graphics AI and content. Have fun!
P.S. This is exactly what a crappy F2P model should be for all you tight wads.
Actually the menu setup was already there since doom 2, tribes 1 and quake, though back in those days (with the exception of tribes) the menu system was mostly for emotes and quick messaging.
Tribes 2 used a menu system, almost identical, less extensive ofcourse but the same basic principle.
I'm glad I'm not the only person with no issues with the controls nor the only one to think they are so "strange" on PC.
The ALT confused me.. so I remapped it to my G700. Some buttons are a pain to reach on my laptop when I play and that's one of them.
Khm... you mean no mouse for moving avatars? I was thinking to buy after month or so but if I will be doomed to WASD for movement this game definitively is not for me. Long are gone times for me to play WASD games.
Another big no-no for me is 1st person view. I know, I know, ... for many big no-no is NO 1st person. :-)
Also another big no-no is seeing targeting recticle in middle of screen.
I do not see problem with all this, nowadays there is big selection of godo games, just thinking this game is not meant for my taste.
2 out of 3 strikes.
Yep it's WASD, no mouse move because Mouse 1 is Fire and Mouse 2 is zoom. And there's no auto run which is something they need to put in really.
It's Third person, not First but you can't scroll out from your character, the game uses a fixed camera position.
Yep you guessed it, there's an aiming reticule in the center of the screen. TBH that's a no brainer, the game is a shooter first and formost.
Sounds like it's not your cup of tea.
The game is quite fun though, if you like shooters. It's gameplay and controls are both pretty standard format for a shooter. The UI is a blatant console UI, so basically it's hideous. The chat system isn't the best, you can't actually chat unless you expand the chat box, and that prevents you from doing anything else until you minimise it again, so that needs some work. Overall though, it's fun. Hopefully at some point they'll throw out some buddy keys and then maybe you can have a go and see if tyou can live with it or not.
