The Friar's Boon

Hello gentle internet peoples. As one of the $5K backers on Kickstarter looking foward to building an Inn as part of my contribution to this project, I'd like to introduce The Friar's Boon, my little corner of this digital world. Since no Inn would be complete without a website too, you can find that here.

Right now at The Boon you can find the beginnings of the Inn's backstory and an area to swap tales of old and search for long lost friends. As the project progresses, I am excited about the opportunity to provide updates and guides to the community through this site as well.

    Some other notes:

    I understand there's a ton more questions about this project than there are answers right now, and frankly that does not intimidate me in spite of the financial backing I'm in for. I'm a marketing consultant in real life, and was thrilled that CSE chose Kickstarter as a way to uncover interest in the project. 

    The purpose of Kickstarter is to "kickstart" a project --- not produce instantly tangible results to consume. So the fact there is no demo or a stockpile of material at this stage does not concern me. My contribution reflects the interest I have in the potential for the game.

    My contribution also entitles me to do something extremely rare in MMO's, and that is drive player content. Being able to manage an in-game Inn and have developer backing in its creation will allow me to create stories and content for the game that are unique to the community that populates the world. 

    Since most MMO's are plagued by not developing content as fast as players consume it, being able to lean on individuals like myself to create content will help fill the time-delay by creating instantly accessible material for people in the world. In other words, there will *always* be something new at The Friar's Boon each and every day I log on.

    I hope to put some guides and encylopedia-type content on there as the devs allow as well. And then some out of character information about the whole development process too.

    Very cool. Hopefully there'll be a minstrel type class that can sing a dirge by your hearth.

    Man, the one thing that could convince me not to play Viking is if there is a Friar class.

    Even if there is not, I will cause enough ruckus to where it will feel like there's a friar class regardless.

    I really love all this. I got the Inn too but I haven't thought out as much as you have. 

    I healed Mistwraith and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!

    Looking good so far.  Doesn't hurt to get your Inn's name out early that is for certain.  Looking forward to visiting sometime.

    Nice to see that you are really dedicated to this project :) Let me salute you for funding it with this amount of money.

     

    Would be sad to see you're digital Innkeeper dream vanish if the project will not get funded.
