MMO with no instanced content?

ch0sen0nech0sen0ne Member UncommonPosts: 87

Sure instances are the norm for MMO's these days but I really feel it takes away from the core aspect of what makes an MMO... a massive persistent world.

Looking for a game that has zero instanced content, no dungeons or arenas please.

you're gonna hate said game too. instances are in place for a reason. and once you try out a game that has none for dungeons and everything, you'll come back to instanced play.

why i find games without instanced dungeons to be a lot better.. the world seems mroe alive when you have to compete with other people.. i i wanted to play a game by myself or with a few other people there are a lot better games out there than mmos to choose from.

the only people who prefer no instanced dungeons are griefers and people who miss EQ for nostalgia reasons

uhm, no? My first MMO was SWG... Just bored to death of forced instanced gameplay where grinding dungeons for loot is the thing to do.

    You are very very wrong...

Dont get me wrong im sure people like instanced dungeons and stuff as well because they hate having to compete with other peopel over mobs..

But there are people who also like big open world games where nothing is instanced..

We all like different things at the end of the day.

Assuming people do not want instancing because of competition is untrue. The reason this worked in EQ was because of something very uncommon in MMOs these days; multiple dungeons at overlapping levels. The problem now is, most dungeons are the dungeon you go to for your lvl 10 quest/gear/skill/whatever. When it was for loot or to raid, you had the option of 10+ dungeons/mobs to go after; guilds sent out spotters and IF the mob was up (they even had random respawn timers on them to confuse people) you went after it, or found an 'open' mob to mobilize to. With thousands of people playing, with MANY guilds at different raid 'levels' I cannot remember the last time in my years playing that game that when we had raid nights scheduled that we did not hit loot bearing raid mobs. This is ties back to 1 simple thing; a massive amount of content, choice and gameplay instead of railed progression, bottlenecks and lazy instancing.

These days, its everyone fighting the same instanced mob, to get the same loot to make the same step in progression in the everyone gets a trophy mentality that these lowest common denominator MMO's cater to.
