rewards are confusing and uninspiring

Thats why I havent backed yet. I dont back things out of a silly idea that my paltry sum will mean the difference between funded and failed, and I doubt many others do either. I fund games that sound fun when the benefits of pledging are clear and substantially interesting. So far mmos on kickstarter have had very dissapointing rewards that dont at all sound any better than just waiting for release. Partly due to the free2download most of them plan, and stingyness with premium benefits relative to the pledge amount.

I looked at CUs pledge matrix with its special points system and no idea the real value of any particular reward and said screw it.

The Dev said they were looking to release some new info today(?) about the tiers as well as some corrections based on feedback.

Maybe that will help clairify some things.

(MJ) "FYI, I told people yesterday (in the comments), that was an errata in the grid. We'll be uploading new grids later today with a couple of errors corrected, a couple of tiers adjusted based on feedback, etc."

i laugh at that. "i don't back things out of a silly idea that my paltry sum will mean the difference between funded and failed, and i doubt many others do either"....many others...lol do you see the problem here?

you and many others that could back anywhere from 5-200(generally what most back) is a-lot- of money. it may not exactly spell the difference between funded and failed, but you can damn well be sure it spells the difference between the amount of features the devs want to put in. or maybe having better graphics, or more armor/weapon skins or monster types.

Thanks for sharing. I personally want to hear from each and every person in the world that doesn't want to fund, and hear their reasons why. I mean I already pledged $250, but I care that much about other peoples opinions that I HAVE to know why a single person doesn't.

Here, I literally just posted this in another thread, and I almost feel like using it as my stock answer to the same threads being created over and over with people saying what THEY want, or what THEY need to see, or what it NEEDS to have, etc.. etc.. etc..

    >>>

To me those kickstarter tier rewards are just that... nice rewards as thanks for your pledge.

The real motivating factor for pledging to the kickstarter shouldn't be to get the reward, but rather because you believe in this project and want it to succeed. The reward tiers are just a nice bonus if it does fund.

Basically a bunch of players, with direction from MJ/CSE, saying hey we really like the idea for this game, and it sounds really fun and unique. Let's pool our resources and make this happen!

If not enough people feel that way, it won't happen. Simple as that.

Stop thinking with the same thought process these big time / big money publishers like EA have indoctrinated you with, and break free of those chains. =)

    viva la revolucion! LOL

I don't see what the complaint is - CU's Kickstarter has offered more to their backers at every level than most any other game ever submitted there. They spent close to a month of research and gathering feedback from potential backers and have released more reward tiers than anyone previously.

For example, for a mere $25 dollar pledge you receive the following:

    • Digital Copy of CU
    • A month of gameplay for free
    • An official thank you from CSE
    • Realm Builder Honor
    • In-Game Badge of Pioneer
    • Five Founders Points to use in the Founder's Exchange
    • A 'Living' Digital Manual
    • Special In-Game Title
    • Founder's Gravestone
    • Bronze Forum Badge
    • and Beta 3 Access
    • Finally, all backers will receive a lower price on their subscription than what it will be at launch.
I can't think of a single game on Kickstarter that has offered so much for so little. The average cost of today's MMO will set you back $50 bucks for the box without jack squat.

Each Tier as you move up includes more and better rewards, as it should.

Just like in life, the more effort you put out, the more reward you will receive. The only confusion really lies in picking the best tier for your personal satisfaction.

If you don't donate and instead wait for release, then the Kickstarter might not fund and you'll be waiting forever because the game won't be made. If on the other hand you pledge as little as $25, you save a decent amount over the retail cost of the game and help ensure it gets made at all. Of course if you don't like the concept of the game, then you absolutely shouldn't donate any money towards it.

The Founder's Exchange items are a bit confusing and hopefully Mark will make them clearer as things go along, but they're really just minor extra rewards. The main rewards are listed next to each tier and don't seem very confusing to me. Decide how much you want to spend, look at the tiers closest to that amount, then pick the one you like best. It's not all that difficult really.

The rewards are very generous and very well laid out.  What specifically turned you away?

My name is Plastic-Metal and my name is an oxymoron.

I have to wonder myself if some people still do not understand, if you PLEDGE an amount and the game misses it's funding goal, you do NOT lose anything.

Kickstarter ONLY takes money out of your account if the kickstarter reaches it's funding goal, you have absolutely NOTHING to lose by pledging (if you intended to buy the game down the road).

However by not pledging, you and others who think like that, can end up leading tot he game not being funded.

As far as value goes, CU's tiers have some of the bes t"bang for the buck" rewards of most kickstarter's I have seen. On top of this iwth the founders points you can CHOOSE exactly what you wnat with them rather then having every reward tier be linear and not allow you to pick and choose what you want to spend them on.

I like this game, your turn !

The entire project is confusing and uninspiring. Even the most well informed fan has no clue wht they're really supporting. I don't know Mark Jacobs but his interviews make it sound like he doesn't really care about this game all that much, likely to end up as more of a sideproject for him if it happens at all.

2 games i am really excited and really waiting for CU and the repopulation.  I want to put into KS for CU but i may have to wait 2 weeks to do it (BILLS), i already put in for KS for the repopulation.

I'm must say, that I'm really excited about the fact that I can help shape the game, and help eliminate bugs.

This will also give me a better insight to the mechanics of this game and - for me - make it more enjoyable. I like understanding the numbers behind stuff.

I mean, who hasn't done 1000 autoswings with Astral Blade of Illusion , to figure out the procrate, after patching?:-)

    So...

Awesome rewards that no one else can get post release(Cosmetic only), and a discount price? 25$ VS the full price of most likely 49.99$? So half off?

Yeah, no reason to pledge, none at all!
