This is my opionion that Defiance is the best damn MMO ever!!!! I love the game. I feel that Defiance is a AAA MMO. I feel that Defiance is for me the MMO that killed WoW. I feel that It is one of the best MMOTPS ever. I feel that Trion Worlds is the best game company in the world. These are all my opinions.
I wanted to share my opinion with true game fans. Basicly I am starting a thread so ones who love to play Defience to allow them to post why they like or even love the game. TYVM

I wouldn't say it's the best MMO ever, partly because I don't really think it's a true MMO, and because I have played better, but it is the game I'm playing right now. I should just write Trion a letter, take my wallet and stuff it in the envelope and mail it to them, with this picture:
Since I have finally dropped my WoW subscription after a little over 8 years of non-stop play, and now I'm only playing Defiance, Rift, and occasionally lotro (haven't logged into lotro since Defiance launched though lol.).
See you in a month saying "i quit" lol.
J/K i am thinking about getting this, but dont think its a wow killer by a long shot. Was going to wait a week or two to see how it does. Lost too much money on other games that were to be wow killers
Buti like the looks of it, and the idea. And Trion is a good company in my book. SO it may be a good game soon enough. They did wonders with Rift.
IF you are sincere, then good stuff mate I'd love to feel as you do about an MMO - perhaps someday I will. For now, GW2 and TSW are close to that but not quite 'that' mmo to me.
Have fun
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
TY dude. I am very sincere.
rofl, I was just messing around before I went to bed just now and ran my challenger into a bunch of hellbug warriors and a queen at full speed, it blew up and I died XD If only it was a Truckapede
Best MMOTPS I've played for sure. Then again I've only played Global Agenda so that doesn't say much
Seems interesting and I'll probably play it once the price dips to $40.
$47 on Amazon last time I checked.
Definitely going to check out the show. They say they have some writers from Battlestar Galactica.
So glad to see that more and more MMOs are taking chances. Even if I don't like it, more competition makes everyone better.

People used to remember me. I was the guy that nit-picked.
I must admit, I'm enjoying Defiance myself but like others, I don't consider it to be a true MMO.
The lack of a proper chat system is hampering any sort of community from developing. The clunky console UI and it's features so buried in sub menu's you need a degree in archeology to find them all. Also from what I've read about the server technology, every 100 players it spawns a new "instance" so you never see more than 100 players interact, with the exception of Shadow Wars 64 v 64.
It may be a very narrow interperatation of the term MMO but 128 players isn't massive enough to qualify in my book. But then I'm the guy who gets pissed when people refer to WoT as an MMO just because it has a cash shop. There's far too many games now calling themselves MMO's that just aren't.
Despite all that I still think it's a good game and when you compare it to other shooters, be they single player or online multi-player, it's well worth the money I paid.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
Found it for $37 bucks. It seems legit so far. Google Play-SC Defiance if you don't want to click links.

37 in their funds, still like 46$ in USD.
Just purchased, and it looks confusing.
But it's $46 in THEIR funds and it all totals about $38 after it's all done. Just checked my account.

It's not the best AAA MMO of all time in my book but there's something strangely compelling that keeps me wanting to log in to play. As a game, it's more than the sum of its parts. There have been so many 'holy crap' moments when something cool happens that I wasn't expecting or when I'm having a running fight with low ammo against a dozen bloodthirsty mobs and another player pops in changing the outcome. Plus, there really does seem to be myriad ways of playing the game, building a character, and finding a playstyle that fits. It would be easy to focus on the inexcusable chat/social functions, confusing itemization, and bog standard questing; however the game remains one of the best pick-up-and-play fun MMOs that I've ever gotten my hands on.
One last thing that helps make the game for me is the TV tie-in. Beyond the obvious, there's actually a trunk full of lore packed into the game that I think casually watching the show probably won't reveal much(at least at first). I have a far better sense of the overall setting of the world of Defiance and can go into the show not only knowing a bit more about the main characters but also about the events and undercurrents that made the world what it is.
I'm glad you found a game that suits you.
I got bored after a week. Feels like BF3 MMO with mobs and no air vehicles. Oh and less progression than BF 3.
Best ever? Nah. GW2 has that title from me personally.
BUT... it's a heck of a lot of fun and I'm enjoying it. Will be nice to see the show for the first time tonight as well and see what familiarities there are. I'm also wondering how many "Brought to you by the Dodge Challenger" commercials we'll see tonight.
This game is indeed a lot of fun and well worth it.
Oderint, dum metuant.
It's definitely an interesting game. It really needs a lot of work, but it screams of potential. I'm hopeful that Trion has a lot of MMO features already in the works, and they just weren't ready for SciFi's (I refuse to say "SyFy"...ever again) time table.
The concept of a true mmo shooter is very intriguing though, and I find it very difficult to play any other fantasy type mmo right now. I didn't even bother with the Neverwinter beta weekend (even though I paid for it, like an idiot. No more paying for betas for me).

Well its a solid online shooter. Beats all those lobby based online shooters. Its a nice change of pace from tab target combat or really bad aim targeting and combat in most mmorpgs who attempt aim targeting.
Its a lot of fun, well made, has Trion behind it, has a good show its based off with lots of potential (both in the TV show and game).
Its not a mmorpg, and its light on the mmo (aside from qualifying as one in all major categories)
Yes its extremely light in socialization, clan/guild managment and participation, its light on main story content, which is exponetially magnified due to the fact that they dont level lock any mission or content. This means you could blow throught the entire current main storyline missions in a few days. The have an assload of side missions, achievements, rep contracts, pvp, dungeons, repeatable stationary events and dynamic roadblocks/rescue missions and arkfalls to keep you busy.
This is a game thats fun even after the main storyline because combat is fun, driving is fun, and the events are fun.
The game does need an endgame though. Soon enough they will DLC enough content to get people to level cap, there needs to be something there.
Its certainly a good one time buy if your interested in a shooter game that will evolve in content, youll get more gameplay out of this than some of the classic singleplayer and lobby based multiplayer types.
The game needs about 2-3 more maps as large as the current map, a solid endgame type mechanic, a way to compete in guilds perhaps with territory wars or seiges...and more story. Room for lots of improvements but still a really fun game if you enjoy shooter combat. and the game offers a wide variety of weapons and gameplay styles, which is good.
If your looking for the next big mmorpg with tons of socialization and limitless content or a game with tons of progression, gear to grind, and levels to grind..stay away this game is" a shooter first and a mmo second '(direct quote from the lead designer)
for me, Defiance, have nice easy way socialisation aspect in game concept,I making new friendships with random players around on same missions as me
It is great shooter MMO, good work Trion,I mam waiting for that game concept in last few years

Is chat actually functional yet for the PC side ? As in is there at least the minimum normal chat box that UO and EQ had in the 90's ?
I just have zero reason to play a mmorpg if there's zero chat.
It's great to see when someone has found a game that they enjoy.
Unfortunately this isn't the game for me but I do hope that it succeeds in what they are trying to achieve with the show connection.
I have been ever so slightly thinking about giving Definace a shot but two things.
1 saying Planetside 2 is bnetter scares the crap out of me,i deleted the game within an hour it was so bad.IMO just from the videos alone,no way is DSefiance anywhere near as bad as P2.
2 The combat looks too generic, your basic machineguns and tossing a grenade gets old real quick.I have yet to see much on good customization either. All i have seen is the video on weapon modding and imo it looks shallow and not much at all,but i could be worng, feel free to tell me there is more to it.
