We now know more about The Depths than about RvR

Thinking about the video for The Depths, I realized we now have seen more concept art and been given more details about The Depths (and also about crafting), a stretch goal that seems doubtful to be reached at this point, than we have seen about the core of Camelot Unchained: RvR.

So here's my homework assignment for Mark and his art team for this week:

  • Show us concept art of keeps and other buildings for each realm and siege equipment
  • Show a video of Mark discussing how taking a keep will work with the same amount of detail as for what happens when you are inside TD and another realm claims it
  • Show us concept art for various places in the "frontiers" maps
  • Show us the Arthurian concept art and prototype models including a 3 way mass fight in the prototype engine and Smackhammer
  • Will there be relics? If so, let's see some concept art on them and some details on what will be required to capture one and what bonuses they will give your realm.
  • Will there be fast transport to keeps or other locations? Give us details on how that will work.
  • Give us some real details about specific classes. What is the name of the TDD healer class? What weapons can the Viking tank use? What are some spells the Arthurian caster will have?
  • Give us some real details about specific races. What are the names of the TDD and Viking races we have already seen? What are their race specific bonuses and penalties at character creation?
  • Give us some real details about the RvR progression system. How many levels is it? How long will it take to reach cap if there is one? When you earn a new level, do you gain stat bonuses, spec points, etc.? What are some example abilities that can be earned as you level up? What are some level titles that other realms will see above your toon's head?

    Concept art isn't convincing.

    I went to school with a guy who could draw awesome dragons.

    I like the art of Rodney Mathews too.  But I understand he's an artist and might not be a great MMO designer.

    Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

    I'd like to know more about the core game too, but I'm guessing that the Depths stuff has been released to help bring backers in. 

    I'm sure everything will be explained over the course of the KS and beyond , but I have faith that the core RvR system will work just fine :)

    There is more info about camelot unchained than there is about TESO and CU is at least 2 years away from release.

    I Agree! 

     

    There's a good part of me that wants to back CU.

    Though I am reluctant because at times I feel he gets carried away, he is a passionate man.

    Without slamming mr Jacobs, I do remember that he sometimes says things that sound really great but never reach the final stage of implementation.

    Being an artist myself I fully understand this and I do not even fault him for it.

    Long story short,

    What are the Core mechanics for Trirealm Combat?

    Show me this in an honest satisfactory way and I will back your game mr Jacobs.

    Im sure those all are serious question when it comes to mmo gaming.

    I see that camelot unchained developers dont know what they want to build yet.

    Very good list. I'd like to see these answers as well.

    Some very interesting questions.  Kudos for asking them in an informational tone (rather than a frustrated one). (!!!)

    Some details like these would go a long way towards easing the concerns of people who are on the fence about getting behind the project.

    I'd also love to see that backer-playable version of Smackhammer as per one of Andrew's video updates.  But that may just be my own vicious streak. :)

    EDIT:  But I do like the OP's questions. 

     

    /Prays there will be no "fast travel" that will make it convenient for RvR teams/Call to Arms raids unlikely to cross into each other en route.  Some of the best strategies and battles were a result of having to get from point A to point B.  I still recall a raid leader asking for every ranger in the realm to not only keep eyes on the enemy but to do as much hit and run damage to enemy players as they were INC to the keep defense or keep take...so that people rage quit or went back to pve lol.

     

    Fun times seeing 18 rangers in the woods lol
