I've seen the rankings EVE online being on top. I also seen the trailer, the graphics are very good. Actually I like to try it first. How was the 14 days trial of EVE? Is it a fast paced game? How good is it? Before the trial expires what level had you reached?

EVE is neither level nor class based. You decide the path of your character by choosing the skills you want him/her to know. Training goes in real time and it takes anywhere from a few minutes to over a month to raise your skill in a level (5 is the max), depending on your attributes and the difficulty of the skill. That is the nice thing about EVE. If you thing you dont like the direction of your character anymore, you simply change it by learning other skills.
And if EVE is fast paced or not depends on what you want to do in the game. Some activites an be very fast paced (like PvP) and some others are quite slow. But overall the game is slow, mainly because it requires a bit of time to get into.
After the 14 days, if you have skilled properly you should be able to fly frigates at an acceptable level (or maybe cruisers if you went for them), but even after that time you will have a lot to learn about the game.
So all in all, you have to be willing to learn a lot (and ask questions) and the capability to choose goals for yourself and your character. If you think you can do that then give the game a try.

You will either love it, or hate it.
If you do love it, you will be playing untill they close the servers at the end of time. Best thing is to join a good corp. use the forums for info and play with others.
It's will take you a month or so to get going, but dont let the put you off as there are always new people joining and soooo much to learn its cool.
I've downloaded and installed the game and will be using the 14 days trial to give it a try. Looks promising and I am willing to play it, now that Sony/LucasArts screwed it up with Star Wars Galaxies more than ever.

EVE it is by far one of the most hardcore MMO's out there (actually it on the top in this site). EVE revolves heavily around it's ingame economy system, you pretty much have to join up with a corporation (guild) from day one to and start mining asteroid fields in your little tug boat to earn your keep and make some money to buy a decent sized ship. for the first couple of weeks or so you'll be doing nothing but mining. set your ship in an asteroid field, set it to mine and go watch a movie or take a walk.
You don't gain exp, rather you try to make enough money to buy new skills to learn. learning skills can take a few hours up to even a few days. These skills will allow you to mine better, knowledge yourself in different weapons, navigate jumps better and allow you to pilot better ships.
Good Day...
Double post sorry
Good Day...
I hate mining
I only mine for an hour of my EVE life ( 3 months ) and I'd love to never fit a miner on my ships. Do some transporting misson and get a 3rd tier of tech 1 frigates , or patienly complete 10 parts of tranning misson (deliver this to that ....), they will give u 1 millions worth implant , sell them and fit ur frigate nicely and out to battles ....
still I dont understand why ppl could go mining for months and months ... they could just hop in a cruiser and shoot anything that's red. MINING IS NESSECERY but for loving doing it ... it just make me crazy though ....

Welcome to Eve all of you that are just joining us! Eve is a great game and possibly the best MMO available. The 14-day trial will only let you taste 1% of Eve's content maybe less. It takes a good month or two to really get a feel for the game. I would suggest subscribing for a month after the 14 days and see if you like it. I don't think 14 days is enough time to make a decision on wheather u like the game or not. If any of you new players need help learning the game send me a message on here and I will be happy to help you out in the game although I can't give you money I can help you learn how to play :P
Hmm.. When you start the game experiment with you toon a bit try all the diffrent ways and see what skills you get to start with. The other tip is to balanse the attributes of the character but lower your charisma a little since this is the least used skill. Raise your Perception and inteligense just a little over Memory and Willpower. That will give you a good start for toon that will be good for most things. And try to make your toon start the game with Frigates Level 4. That will help you the most no matter what you want to play.
The myth that you HAVE to join a playercorp from day one is bogus, lies and blowing smoke up your provebial Donkey. It help if you want to mine or if you want to PvP. If you want to explore the game just fly around and get a feel of the game, mine some here, kill some NPC's there, do so. But remember to ask for help where you can. But always do so politely and with patience, spaming will just make sure everyone ignores you. Later in the game in the game I would strongly advice you to join one of the player owned corporations, since it will greatly help your economy.
Regarding AFK mining. That is what you do when you don't feel like playing the game or just want to do something else. It's a good way to make money (isk) when you are away from the game but a bad way to earn isk if you can be active. If you're active you mine buy switching between a Cruiser (barge when you have the skills) and an Industrial Hauler using a buffer with jettisoned cargocontainers.
Missions will also earn you money and minerals (By recycling the most of the loot) and is quite easy to do alone until you hit those lvl 4 agents. And you can also hunt NPC pirates (aka Rats) in astroidbelts and grab their loot. (Which Imo is more fun since you can get commander and officer spawns that drop really valueable things.)
The last but most important advice is ALWAYS make sure your CLONE is UPDATED.
Oh and don't stare yourself blind on making those shiny iskies, **** them and play the game for the fun.
This is how I look at the game and only one out of X numbers of way to play the game. So get in there and play, learn and have fun.
Im Amazed..... NOT!!!
