I enjoy the culture this game takes place in, I just find the game itself bland and boring. As many have said, it reminds me of my first forays into games like S.U.N. or Loong and a handful of others. They all sound and look fairly decent but once you start playing them the auto pathing to quest givers ad nauseum coupled with kill 10 of X quests with no originality or style in them completely ruins the game right out of the gate.

If this was a themepark, you would have all the reasons. But it's mostly a PVP game AND a sandbox-y game. The fun comes from school missions (defense and attack), escort missions, or simply doing what you find fun, be it kidnapping people, attacking convoys, begging, beign a farmer or whatever you fancy. If you don't like the game, ok, but misinformation is another thing...
One slot? ONE SLOT? In every single MMO I have been playing all possible alts. If here one can at least buy (good way to suck more money) additional slots, I'm fine. This would be exception, because they will probably not see my money because of that one initial slot.

It's one slot per server, so you can have (right now) three characters. It's not unheard of, with this kind of games, think Darkfall.
Dunno if you can get more 'slots' but being it F2P you could have 2 accounts if you want to play an alt on teh same server. But I think you can safely skip the game, you probably would hate it
Sorry bother but your first few paragraphs explain enough of the bad in the game which is pretty much the first few hours and enough to make me stay away.If the game cant expalin itself to someone a little less patient than you, it wont keep me playing.Ive said it here it looks cool and the concept is cool but the execution is lacking.
PS: You calling people an Idiot for not liking a game makes you look more like an Idiot.
Fair enough, to each his own.
P S: I'm not calling anyone an idiot for not liking the game. I'm saying that people making sweeping, fallacious and uninformed judgments make themselves look like idiots.
Several posters here obviously gave Wushu a fair shot but still didn't like it - nothing wrong with that. What bugs me are the know-it-alls who write self-important bs about how the game is "another cheap Asian grinder" and whatnot after playing for 25 minutes.
To anyone who have actually played the game, that stuff is just silly.
I am done digging through mounds of manure to find a little gem. I'm not doing it. You can tell me that the game's true value starts to shine as you get into it all you want. I tried the game and the 1st hrs of it suck. Plain as that. There is no "closed minded" opinions here. You fans of AoW are not allowing people their right to say "I don't feel that I should have to force myself through crap now just to see if it gets better later" I don't play games like that. Many people here don't play games like that. It's a perfectly viable foundation for their opinions and for you guys to tell us that we don't have a right to judge this game because our initial experiences sucked therefore the game sucks is not justifiable. This is life. Get used to it. Ever go to a job interview? You got less than a minute to not blow it. I choose to play games only as long as I am enjoying them. Don't tell me this is wrong. It's not.
Edit:
I do get what you are saying. It' shappened to me twice before where I played a game, didn't like it, went back later and found it to be worth the effort. Hell, I might even give this one another go someday. But right now, I won't. I don't have any desire to do that. It didn't grab me and that's the end of it.

No, no one is forcing you to anything. As everyone said, tastes are tastes and thank god they are all different. Now giving 'opinions' based on 15 minutes gameplay or (like many) with glaring falsities (probably because they didn't play it), THAT's what most commenters aren't fine with.
It is a FACT that every time a new game comes out you'll have plenty trolls just unleashing their pent up anger, frustration or whatever is eating them. And that muddles a bit the waters

Again, this is where we disagree (which is fine since they are only opinions). I feel that initial impressions are HUGE and go a long way. It's because many players will decide to continue or quit within the 1st few minutes. So those opinions do hold weight.
Originally posted by Burntvet Game was just "meh". It is a slightly nicer, slightly deeper version of the typical Asian grinder. As someone else mentioned, it recycles many, many game mechanics from previously done grinder games. And yes, almost everything is a HUGE grind (which was enough of a turn-off for me, right there), that pushes the player into using the cash shop to avoid or hurry the grind. I started playing with several other friends during the beta, and not one lasted a month. As to why this game is not getting more coverage, easy: it does not deserve any.
I don't believe you actually played the game. Please educate us what typical Asian grinder in this game? and How many hours you have put in this game?
Doesnt really matter what you believe. The game looks alright and has a cool idea but its NA execution is lacking.I spent alot of time trying to figure out the cultivation system.Still not sure how to use it.I shouldnt have to go to some forums to figure out something that seems fairly important to your skills in game.Plenty of other MMO's out there to keep me occupied.
What're you kidding me? You push the cultivate button and it levels your skill over time. It's not rocket surgery man...
I like this game. I like the idea behind it and I also like some of the features and they are for the most part, well implemented. I played it for a while in Beta and unfortunately the combat is too clunky due to unresponsiveness with most of the skills. Most of the time it felt like I was operating a yacht in combat. Now that might be due to my location (lag) so I'm waiting for Age of Wulin to give this game another shot. The UI took me a whole two days to figure out completely and while some things could be better explained and more intuitive, I didn't find that to be a complete deal breaker.

I stopped too for the same reason (lag, I am from EU) but then I played on the RU OB and combat was a lot better. Waiting too for Wulin

Again: it's perfectly fine to dislike the whole game or the first hour or whatever. Tastes differ and besides I totally agree that first impressions are crucial. AoW has a lot of room for improvement in that area.
What is not fine however is making some sort of general "review" of the whole game based on 15 minutes of gameplay, making outright false statements ("it's a quest-based themepark", "it's a typical Asian grinder" etc).
It would be like "reviewing" EVE after doing the tutorial, complaining about the game being a themepark because all you did was boring missions. No one would take you seriously, and people who have played the game for a long time would just laugh at your bottomless ignorance.
Same thing here. It didn't grab you, fine. But don't come here telling people what the game's about when you haven't even played it.

AoW simply wont before them Geezer, and that's ok.
There is a movie term called "The Slingshot effect." This is where the most exciting scene is put right at the start, then slows from there. This has been the trend in gaming the last few years. GW2's giant worm, TSW flash back etc.
AoW is just the opposite it builds momentum, (hasn't stopped either) similar to EVE. This too was one of the most jarring changes in design for me aswell. Thank goodness I continued play.

Not that it is anyone's business (and apparently some people can't read) I played for almost a month, maybe 40 hours total. 3 other friends from work joined me, under the premise that it would be better with a small group. But no. I was the one that lasted the longest, the others quit before me, they could not get past some of the game's weakness, got feed up the gold spam, refused to get suckered into buying gold, and quit. I lasted the longest because I was working on crafting skills, but even there the grinding/farming requirements were beyond silly. So, yes, I played the game for far longer than 10 minutes, and much longer than the others who started with me, who had a much lower tolerance for boredom.
Again, this is where we disagree (which is fine since they are only opinions). I feel that initial impressions are HUGE and go a long way. It's because many players will decide to continue or quit within the 1st few minutes. So those opinions do hold weight.

I can certainly relate to this. I had the same experience with Anarchy Online. When they released The Alien expanision, they created a new starter zone for the game. Unfortuantely the starter zone gives a false impression of what the rest of the game is like. In any event, it's not until much later that you could see the game's offerings. Looking back, Was the experience worth it? Yes. It was the best MMO I've ever played......Well, before the Cash Shop ruined what was left of it anyway.
Am I willing to do that here? Maybe, maybe not. The problem is...I've had only 2 games actually manage to be worth pushing through to experience what lies beyond the beginning. Most times........It's just new S**t on top of old S**t. Hedging my bets, I'll probably pass on this one for now.

I don't beleive anyone on the first page including myself made any sort of review of the game, and since in my post I was the one that said I uninstalled it after 25 minutes I assume in some part you are referring to my post on the game.
You cannot fault people for launching a game, checking a few things out and putting it down. If the company is not smart enough to bundle their product for the market they are launching in then as I said originally it is their fault if consumers assume it is another asian grinder. I understand you may like the game and by all means go at it. But please do not call us close minded because we do not share your views.
An official review can be done between 1 hour to over 100 hours, where is the line? Well that is pure opinion in itself due to the nature of MMOs. Simply put, we are glad you like the game, those of us that don't want to tell you we don't. Whether you agree is none of our concern. I just hope that those of you that enjoy the game would not be closed minded to our opinions because they counter your own. I don't think anyone here was trying to troll the game and if thats what you think I am sorry for that misunderstanding. I really like what they are doing with this, as I stated earlier I feel it was not bundled correctly for the NA market.
P.S. When we have 1,000 MMO clones being launched, most of us don't have the patience to deal with wasting our time anymore. Unless you can bring the goods up front to me within the first hour or so I refuse to waste my time on the product.

you already wasted 7 hours to download the game, and wasted 25 minutes to play the game. now you are wasting more time to make comment on a game you don't like. Move on buddy.

What misinformation? My beginning experience was exactly what I mentioned. If it's something else beyond that, that's not my fault for not getting to it. The game does nothing to pull me in. On top of that I found combat and movement subpar.
This game is definately not for those that need in depth explanations for every action and having their hands held every step, although a bit of common sense will take you a long way.
People that called this a typical asian grinder have obviously never played WoW or STO. THOSE are typical modern day grinders. There is no forced grind to advance in this game.
Geezer and others like you, will you just stop posting already? There's thousands of people here that wanna try this new game out, and we don't need your dozens of "Installed, didn't like the first 25 minutes, uninstalled" posts.
Why do you keep posting?
We want to see posts of how we play the game beyond the dreaded tutorials. We want to hear from people who know and love the game. If I find the game to suck, I will uninstall it myself and I won'øt be reading your 20 posts about how much you hate it, you are just wasting space.
Personally I don't even know if I am still in the tutorial or not, it's that confusing lmao I have been teleported to a whole different part of the map and I have no idea if I can even get back. Grrrr this game is infuriating but I will try a bit more.
I hate to bust on a new game, I the martial arts genre.
However sadly i could stomach about 30 min's of gamplay then i uninstalled.
Free to play games walk a very fine line for me and i felt like this was leaning pay to win from the start, also:
The nameplates --horrid
litteraly 50% of my screen was people spaming gold sales--bad howver this is tough for a ftp game prolly will get better.
The biggest problem was i felt like the translation was bad and i was left kind of confuesed after getting to the traing center (quest after tea house with dad.) when i looked around for how to get the xp i needed to proced i was dirceted to the cash shop.
Im all for sandbox style but not if its an excuse to cash shop the crap out of me.
It would be a fair assesment to say i didnt give this game a good shot becasue i only played for 30 min i just knew this game was not for me. I hope other people enjoy it becasue i think if you progress far enouigh the combat looks cool
(Who doesnt want to a ninja? Imagine the all oppertunities for posting old kung-fu movies in ther forums, epic:)
I want to puke when I think about AoW now. I've played a lot in Beta but the community and the concept of the game leaning very strongly towards pay to win destroyed any interest at all. This game is a lot about PvP. If you want to be competitive you'll either have to play this game day and night none-stop or pay a lot of $$ to buy the game's main currency that everything wroth buying is being sold for.
Player to Player trade is possible ONLY through that type of currency and everything in game is limited to that currency other than some crap that nobody really needs. This game is all about PvP and $$$. It takes about a week of solid playing to understand this and then hate and forget the game forever unless you are ready to max your CC or run dungeons like a fool every day for hours with a slight chance of something worth selling to other players. Uhh, I feel sick even talking about this game.

Go into Settings > Video Options, and be sure to check:

It's one slot per server, so you can have (right now) three characters. It's not unheard of, with this kind of games, think Darkfall.
Dunno if you can get more 'slots' but being it F2P you could have 2 accounts if you want to play an alt on teh same server. But I think you can safely skip the game, you probably would hate it
Hmmm.. why not?

It is a FACT that every time a new game comes out you'll have plenty trolls just unleashing their pent up anger, frustration or whatever is eating them. And that muddles a bit the waters
Again, this is where we disagree (which is fine since they are only opinions). I feel that initial impressions are HUGE and go a long way. It's because many players will decide to continue or quit within the 1st few minutes. So those opinions do hold weight.
