Maybe an odd question , are there any "mature/casual" guilds planning on playing this ?

DahkohtDahkoht Member UncommonPosts: 479

Just curious if some of you Darkfall vets can answer this one.

I enjoy PVP , don't mind getting ganked , all part of the deal. Played Lineage 2 at launch and original Korean version also , old EQ zek that had looting and so on. So I enjoy the "danger" aspect.

I don't have as much play time as I did at EQ launch , (wife /kids / career etc) , but don't mind games that take a while to level (prefer them in fact).

What I'm curious of is are there any friendly/casual/mature guilds that are in Darkfall UW or plan to be ? Not meaning prudish or casual as in never getting any thing done , just more as in realizing real life comes first , not making the game a second job, the chat isn't full of X-Box live juvenile screaming etc.

Some people knock the PVP crowd , but I know there are plenty of us friendly adults who still love a good open world bloodbath in game , and was wondering if there were any such groups around in this one ?

I do enjoy trying most every mmorpg , and sticking with one with lots of PVP is something I'd very much enjoy , just want to do it with other folks of similar ilk is all.

Most DF players will not be on this site at all. You will want to jump onto the DFUW forums and look under the clan listings. You can find any type of clan you want with any type of gameplay.

A bunch of older people in our guild:  http://the-tenth.com/home.php

    Feel free to apply.

Yeah The Tenth is a good option if your looking for Maturer players.

Most DF players are adults.  That is one positive thing about this game.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Most DF players will be older people.

Don't think kids or people with immature mentality can handle being kill and looted.

    Before making a decision I'd urge you to check out and read up on Imperium you can find the Imperium recruitment post on the Darkfall Public Clan Forums here;

    https://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?334524-NA-Imperium-A-Clan-inspired-by-the-Roman-Republic

    And the Imperium Clan Forums here;

    http://www.imperium-uw.com/the-forum-f12.html

The Imperium guys seem pretty laid back, but they are quite organized at the same time, which appeals to me. The political structure of the clan allows for elections and for the general membership to influence the decisions of the officer corps... which is a breath of fresh air.

Why serve when you can rule in Imperium!

Join Empire. Great large guild with some of the best players and a lot of casual to play with. They basically accept anyone, but note again that some of them are one of the best players. You will learn a lot from them as a newb.

I use to play with them when i started playing DFO. We had lot of pvp encounters and we won most of them. Even as a newb clan, we were not as vulnerable and fragile as any other newb clans. We use to live in one of the best city in the game. Most of us were able to learn fast with them and a lot have became strong enough to participate in tournaments.

If you join them, don't hesitate to ask them any questions.

Yeah there's actually quite a few guilds like that. It's a missconception that you can only enjoy playing by being online 24/7 (goes for any mmo really). And  on contrary to what one would expect judging from the surface of DF community, there are closed communities which are completely oposite to the first impression one gets from forums and general chat.

There are many guilds that will work for you.

Initially, there will be an enormous amout of work to do as a guild member - especially a new one. If you don't play at the right times it will be noticed and remembered - especially at the start.

Consider logging in solo the first day or so (to learn the basics) and research who is playing when you do and who matches your 'playstyle'.

I'll be honest , it's a game , I've got a real life that always > game. Whether its the kids or wife or job etc. So the "right" time fo me to play any game is when I decide to , and that's allt there is to that.

Hopefully by the many other replies there will be a guild that understands this , and again , I don't begrudge hard core guilds with all the rules and expectations , and I would never join one either as I know thats not what I'm looking for.

But this is an excellent post for me to use as an example of what I'm not looking for , someone/group "remembering" I didnt login for X amount of hours at the right time to do X.

OTG (old timers guild) sounds like a pretty good fit.

Less ure but i thought i saw a thread for a clan called "the DAD army" or something

  • RaapnaapRaapnaap Member UncommonPosts: 455

Unlike popular belief, if you did some research, you will find out that a lot of long standing mature clans play Darkfall, more than in most MMO's.

Just because a game is full loot PvP, doesn't mean only kids play it.

While I think the DF community is among the most hostile communities I've ever encountered. The once that is mature, are among the best I've encountered. So don't worry. They are there, and are quite easy to spot.

All pvp centric games have hostile communities between rivals (and I mean all - have not seen one that doesn't)

Emotions tends to run high in pvp games.

XBox kiddie guilds are exception rather than a rule in Darkfall.  While there might be a lot of political shit talk on the forums between different guilds (it's what makes it fun honestly, the politics), most guilds are actually quite mature and laid back, and treat their own members and allies with respect.  Of course there are exceptions to this, asinine guilds are usually identified really fast and are known to community at large.

I watched a stream posted on here last night for hour or so and honeslty am somewhat sold on the game. From large open landscapes to the pvp style I think I'm willing to put up witht he quirks of the publisher.

I've noticed several suggestions in this thread , and glanced on the official forums , and wondered if OTG clan/guild is as friendly as seems , (just wondered if anyone had actual experience with them. )

Or any other suggestions too , still looking into any of these listed here. Just wanted both friendly/mature one (not mature as in no fun or prudish) along with large enough to have folks on at some of my late night (10pm cst + ) play hours due to kids etc.
