I had played Darkfall at release for about 6 months or so, until the NA server opened, I couldn't transfer because I had so many regs to burn through before I did, I eventually got bored and quit before transfering to NA.
Wasn't really following Unholy Wars that closely.
I was pretty excited about it back in December when it was supposed to come out the first time, then it got delayed and I put it on the backburner.
I had heard bad things from beta testers, so just kind of gave up on the game.
But today I suddenly remembered.... oh I only have to pay the subscription fee since I already own the game! Shit its worth 15 dollars to try it out. Maybe I'll like the new DF.
Then to my dismay I learn the discount for DF veterans expired and was only for preorders. Adventurine made my mind up for me.
I guess they don't want my $15.00.
I am not going to pay $40+ for the same game twice. So I guess I'll get to try it when there is a free trial.
Comments
To be fair, previous subscribers were supposed to get it free. The game says it comes with an included free 30 days, so previous subscribers should have had a free first month as well.
Of course, it's Aventurine, so they swindle out of people's money any way they can. The right combination of wording and fanboyism is what keeps people from calling this bait and switch "reward" for the scam it is.
How many more years do they need to make a release quality game? Or are we to wait for the next do-over Darkfall iteration?
Five months of a sudden and unexpected beta that was announced on the previous day it was slated to be released should definitely be a tip that they're programming skills amount to running around the office screaming while their hair is on fire.
No clue what you're talking about with the swindling, to my understanding it was always "owned the game pay only the monthly sub" show me a link to them saying everythings free including first 30 days,
Well if you payed $400 dollars for that TV and then they confiscated it from you, and upgraded the built in speakers on the TV, and are now selling it for $350, but you want it for $299, then yes I could see how your analogy works.
You're leaving out the part where I already payed 40-50$ for the game the first time.
Its the same game, its just an updated version. No MMORPG has ever made you repurchase the game in order to just pay the monthly fee and log in.
Specific examples: Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy XIV, Nexus TK,
Expansions just cut off access to the new content. You can still play the original game you own.
Had Darkfall 1.0 kept the servers online and let owners of the game keep playing, this move would be acceptable, but they shut the old game down.
And no, I am not mad. I am just making a point that it is these kinds of decisions by a company that prevents it's game from having a large enough player base to stay alive.
in the ol' terms of service it gives them the right to cancel the product whenever they want... you said you played for 6 months? the game was live for years. DF is cancelled now theres Unholy Wars, different game, similar concepts, and unfortunately same engine.
The discount was just you resubbing to the game the same you would of paid to replay the old game... 15 bucks...horrible arguement
Having read the OP, but skimmed over the other comments; you should be stopped.
You're the least productive participant in this conversation, yet seemingly, the most vocal.
Thats kind of your fault for not reading the promotion for the pre-order.. this have been known since nov..
Oh and btw your not paying $40 for the same game you would actually be paying $40 for a very dumbed down version of Darkfall LOL
Congrats..
When the mac donnalds says: from Monday to Thursday buy 1 hamburger get 1 free will you ask for ur free hamburger on the friday after? It said in the offer for how long it would count. I dont see why you made this topic just so others can claim ur late? or because we want to know u wont try the game out?
This post will obviousy get flagged since we obviously need 100 useless threads each minute.
No signature, I don't have a pen
Would have or would've.
Have to agree there, especially with all the performance issues and stuff confirmed in game since debug mode did not change change any of that. Least they could have done with anyone wanting to put up with part 2 of the same stuff.
