Yet again another Social Activist destroys my life.

ok this all just happened friday night and saturday morning(early hours 1 or 2). My friend and i go out to see harry potter we cant get in because we didnt plan beforehand.
so we decide to go to hooters.....(bad idea this is where it all goes to hell) we see 3 friends of ours and i know theirs trouble right there. They offer us to go to their trucks and "meet our friend the captain" i only have one drink. my friend gets entirely wasted like everyone else.
but since it is my policy not to drive at all when i drink i call another friend to try to get us rides home or at least him a ride home, and let the one drink go through me so i can be absolutely sure i can get my car.
so she comes and immediately she without tact takes away his keys and isnt even intelligent about it(im condoning the horrible execution) so she gives him a ride home and wont let me go to my car even though i am absolutely fine and have one had about 1 shot of the captain 3 hours ago.
so i call my other friend(girlfriend) she likes how i was trying to be responsible for my friend and gives me a ride to my car. My friends car is still at the hooters.
so i found out that my friend still slightly intoxicated had called the friend that gave him a ride home and pissed her off.
So she in the name of doing "good deeds" tells his parents about the whole affair.
which is bad because two things, i was helping my friend with all his bad habbits before that night and things were still under control(my control) afterwards.
so his parents bring him home and he is now undefintely grounded and the only safegaurd(me) between him and a bad life is gone. so they took away his car and wont let him do anything.
now on a mentally stable person who was without suicidal thoughts this would be fine.
but if he cant see his girlfriend, friends, or have any fun he will most defintely become suicidal.
so i tell her she has risked his life, being stupid and not thinking her "social activism" through to its natural consequences. and she threatens to tell on me.....
now this is retarded because i had told my dad about the whole thing before i even went to get my car. And he saw that i had acted responsible and was trying to help a friend.
so now my friend is totally suicidal....... and he does have weapons...... and im scared and i cant do anything to watch him because the idiot who ratted on him mentioned my name.
so i cant watch or help and i know hes suicidal....
so thanks again to social activists.
they created (or impowered) the organized mafia in america, and create everyday problems.

i knew he had deeper problems ever since i noticed teh self inflicted cuts and ciggarrette burns. And the tendency for extremely wreckless behavior.
i mean i can do stupid shit but i normally have the intention of coming out alive......
but getting him in trouble is not the solution to his problems all it does is put him at risk.
next time ill get my girlfriend to give us a ride, i usually try to keep my drunk friends away from her, but i mean this time got so fucked up its not funny.

Sorry to be an unsympathetic ass but...you're 16. Unless your profile is lying. So I can only assume your friends are around your age. You want the forum readers here to feel bad because you and your friends were trying to drink 5 years before your legal drinking age.
If you want to avoid these sorts of problems let's analyze what the true detremental force here was. Was it the drunken friends? No. Was it the "social activist"? Prolly not. Was it Harry Potter? Well...I hate Harry with a passion but I can't blame him for this one. Was it the illegal drinking? Bingo.
As for your "potentially suicidal" friend. If you are truly concerned try keeping him away from alcohol. It doesn't help the matter. Sure, I can feel for you and your friends that it sucks to be in trouble but who is really to blame here? I mean that's like a car thief bitching about going to jail. There's not a whole lot of logic there.
Mind you, I am saying this all assuming your profile information is accurate. If you are of legal drinking age then I ammend my recommendation to NOT doing in a public parking lot ( unless you live where I do ). If your 'social activist' friend is causing these sorts of problems and you're all of legal drinking age ( which I doubt since the section where "his parents are told" causes him a problem ) then she needs to get a grip. Otherwise she's being a responsible, caring friend.
If the guy is getting suicidal THIS easily then someone who actually cares about him SHOULD be bringing this sort of information to his loved ones so he can get the help he needs...

I agree with Malachi. You shouldn't be drinking. I am only 20 and I have yet to really touch liqour (aside from my dad making me an ocasional drink at home- and I am of italian deccent so this is common)
The real problem to add on to Malachis post is that the fact your drinking for reasons you shouldn't be. You need to ask yourself why you are doing it. Because your friends are? do you want to be cool? do you want to feel like your older? just because isn't usually the whole answer.
You also need to get your friend to ask himself these questions. In reality, getting drunk isn't such a great thing unless you are trying to suppress a problem whethere it be visible or not.
Well in Australia our young folk have already been legally drinking and driving (but hopefully not at the same time) for 4 years by the time Americans do.
Whilst I agree largely with the other posters I would also add that alcahol is just another word for excuse. If your friend is suicidal he needs to seek help or someone else needs to do it for him if it seems appropriate to do so. His drug of choice is not the problem, its how you manage the use.
Blaming the substance, whatever it is only avoids the issue, which is human behavior.

I haven't discovered what could possibly be fun and fulfilling about plastering yourself with poison and then puking it up the next morning while feeling like total crap. Why don't you just take a cup of listerine and stir in some mothballs? Heck, while you're at it you can smoke some sharpie pens and lick ashes from a fire. I've even got some rat traps you can lick the cheese off of. It might just feel as good and it wouldn't be as detrimental for you.
Ps. On a lighter note, puberty is sometimes stress enough to cause thoughts of suicide if you don't have anyone there for you. Just keep being a friend. Try to stick close to him as much as possible while he's grounded. Send him... mail? Have his dad/mom bring messages up to him? I don't know. His grounding might blow over in a week, two weeks, a month, who knows... but if his parents are those who say one thing out of a temper or fear and then do another, then he will be ungrounded before you know it. Buy him a harakiri dagger or something. Attach a note that says, "For protection." That might cheer him up.

Well, Prefect, the saying goes, "Never hit a lady." or something like that... My philosophy is that if a woman is courteous and well-mannered enough to be a lady then you shouldn't hit them. And Gideon, no I have not had a drink of alcohol. The closest I've gotten to it is the artificial stuff and that tasted like crap and eating german chocolates filled with alcohol. Mainly I wasn't aiming my post at Vergel or anyone specific. I was just having fun.

I wonder if you KNEW there was going to be trouble when your friends asked you if you wanted to join them.... Then Why the heck did you join them? You're mature enough to not drink and drive... but you are far from mature...
You KNEW something was a bad idea... You KNEW there was alchohol... YOU KNOW you're underage... you KNOW that you guys couldn't walk home.. you KNEW that things would get worse...
