Hello CU Fans,
I had the pleausere of being a part of another open tech demo. This one combined the network portion with the rendering engine.

I did have a lot of fun just running around and trying to find Andrew from the live stream. The one picture of me being a viking and standing over a dead TDD was when we killed Andrew.
*** NOTE *** This is not what CU will look like when it is finished, this was only a test and proof of concept... Maybe a little bone to keep hype up about the game as well.
I took some screen shots that are higher then the stream. These were taken from my media server NOT a high end gaming computer and the specs are below.

MJ came into the comments and asked for testers. They then opened it up and provided the link via the Twitch stream chat.
Hehe that video was good. :-) They seem like a great team that are having a lot of fun together. It makes me glad to see a dev team that actually seem to enjoy being at work.
It is actully a brand new engine they have been working on since the KS started. What made you think it was from DAoC?
Nanulak
cool to see that you think what they put together in 3 weeks is a production level engine, but you are incorrect
Nice to see they got working client/server technology working already. I can see why some aren't too happy about them showing this off. Lots of people don't seem to understand that it's a very early prototype for a game that has barely begun development. If these guys think this is the final version of the game (and there seems to be a mysteriously hight amount of those people, or perhaps they're simply very vocal), they're not gonna pledge.
There's a reason why developers typically don't show off their games until fairly late into the development.
It's hard to say if a prototype like this will help boost kickstarter. One one hand, you show people thinking the game is all smoke and mirrors, that it isn't. On the other hand, people who know very little about development and kickstarter may think the final product won't look too different from this and be discouraged.

Your cynical, mean-spirited and hateful critcism has been noted.

Lol, peeps see a crappy demo , wich looks like shit, and gets overhyped....
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

Hello,
that is what I thought too, but I wouldn´t have posted that because some people will be very unhappy to hear that. Please don´t make people sad, it is better if they learn from their own mistakes, or maybe they win the bet and don´t lose their money. But I think since the creator has enough money anyway, he will just put in the difference missing for 2 M on the last day.
Paying 200.000 $ to get 1.800.000 $ is a deal even a bank wouldn´t neglect.
Peace

Bazinga!
One of the better posts I have seen, no joke
Here here.
Game at that state... i wouldn't expect to see this game out before 2017-18 the earliest
If it's out in 2 years, i feel sad for those invested in it.
Ok guys... calm down.. I wanted this to be an informative post, not turn into another CU troll thread. I made no grand statements, asked for no money, nor embellished the facts in anyway. I wanted to give others who missed the demo a chance to see the live stream replay and some higher quality screen shots.
I understand helping to fund CU is not for everyone and I respect your opinion.. Because that is all we have right now.. opinions.. Everyone has one, the only facts are what CSE has done since the KS started. If that is not enough for you, then that is great!
Looks pretty good imho. Wish I could have been there trying it out.
LOL...I am mystified at all the people that think this is the game, rather than a proof-of-concept engine/networking demo which utilizes proof-of-concept first-generation character models (for only 2 of the eventual races)! Go figure. :)P
I really can't understand how anyone could possibly think that CSE are claiming that this is some sort of version of the actual game....maybe people are unfamiliar with different stages of software development, or the design stages of any project, software or otherwise?
To my eye, what this demo demonstrates is a heck of a lot of successful coding in a very short amount of time. It also demonstrates very clearly the CSE team's commitment to building the meat of the game from the ground up ( rather than wasting time and money on cheap, flashy cinematics that have little to do with any kind of finished gameplay) so that the actual game will be able to run like a bloody Ferrari.
Thanks for posting the high-res screenies, as well, so that people can get a sense of the level of detail in 12K triangle models "in-game" - very helpful, since the livestream obviously goes out at a much lower resolution.
I think a lot of people don't realize that most developers don't show ANYTHING at this early stage of development, and that what CSE has achieved so swiftly is not only impressive but indicative of the innovations the engine will see once funded and given a couple years. CSE are like ninjas.
Again, thank you so much

I got to be in the test myself, and it was amazing to me that I had 120 other individually rendered players on my screen with flames and AoE effects all running around and attacking each other with no lag.
My FPS didn't drop below 150 even with the maximum number of people on the server. For three weeks into a custom engine, its mind blowing.
I'm thankful that CSE gives their backers credit for 1) being able to read and comprehend the difference between a demo of engine code at work and a fulling functioning game two years from now. and 2) Being open, honest, and extremely communicative.
Loved it.
It is up right now with a small change to the client.

Did you know that DAoC was developed in just 18 months for the whopping price of $2.5 million? And that included having to buy the server hardware because Mythic couldn't get a lease on the servers. They had no credit rating because they'd never borrowed before.
Just goes to show you don't need to spend $50 million and 5 years developing a good game. Or even a great one!
