How have EBay benefited from the internet?

I know they've only started because of it but how have they benefited because of it than auction houses that are just set in one location?

I've answered all i can think of, just wanna know what i've missed out?

25 cents to start an auction. Multiply that by 10,000 auctions a day.

    Taken from ebay.com
    How does eBay make money?
eBay primarily makes its money from listing, feature and final value fees collected from registered users who use an eBay site to trade their goods.

    To answer Scaramoosh:

    - They have a much broader audience.

    - They don't have to organize and validate every auction.

    - They don't have to pay for "evaluation experts".

    - They don't have any stock costs.

Thanks to a two year investigation by the FBI it's also been proven that ebay is a common route for selling stolen goods. Thats a bit harder to do at a standard auction house. But you have to understand that there's no way that Ebay can know the origins of all the items listed on their website.

I forget the exact numbers but i think ebay changes hands of 18 billion dollars worth of merchandise a year. Then add a 10% service fee to those.

    Thats a lot lol

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
