Hey folks, long time MMO'er here and looking for a sandbox game. Right now I'm playing WoW again, but have left Eve Online(my sandbox fix) when AoW came out. Sadly, AoW just didn't do it for me. Not necesarily the gameplay, but I just couldn't get into the Chinese theme. Crazy? Maybe, but I jsut couldn't.
My question. Is it possible to just get lost solo in this game and make a life for yourself? In sandbox, I always like to see what I can accomplish on my own. 'But this is an MMO!' you might say. Even in real life, I always thought it would be fun to head out on my own into the wilderness and just live off the land, build my little hut, be a hermit. Wierd fantasy I know, something I'm sure I would never do in RL, but I do like living that fantasy out in Sandboxes. Can I do that in this game? Is the world big enough to just head so far out that you wouldn't hardly ever run into anyone?
Thanks ahead of time. If this isn't possible in this game, if you wouldn't mind suggetsing a sandboxy MMO where that would be possible?

No, not in DFUW.
You are looking for a game called Salem.
Doesn't that game have Permadeath?

Yes.
Deffinetly dont' want to play that. One thing that I like about "Hermit-ing" in sandboxes is just living on my own, building up a stockpile of stuff whether crated or gathered, then making a trek to town to sell it all. I did that in Eve, just stock piled stuff I would mine, scavenge or craft, then stick it all in my freighter and haul it in to market. That's kind of what i'm talking about.
