I haven't felt this badly about anything comic-related since Spider-Man made a deal with Mephisto. Perhaps David Brevik should've followed suit, then maybe he'd have created something worth playing.

I pretty much have to concur.   Played it a couple of hours, then deleted it.   Very poor on a lot of levels.  Loved running around with 4 Hawkeyes, 4 Wolverines and a big batch of other duplicate heroes.  ;(

If their goal was to make DCUO and CO look much better, then they have succeeded.  Most anything else, not so much.....

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

I hope you're joking as the game is a total clone of  he Diablo games, just reskinned with Marvel heroes. It's a complete snooze fest and it ticks me off that such there is stlll not a true Marvel MMO in existence. Instead we get this crappy game.

Now that the NDA has been released and I got the chance to play it, I can honestly say my fears were right all along and that this is nothing but a corporate attempt to try and grab some cash from the fans of the Marvel universe. It's obvious from the sucki-ness of the game.

I fear a barrage of abuse, but Its difficult to call this a Diablo 'Clone' - sure it shares similarities - I'd expect that since the lead Devs CREATED Diablo in the first place (Gazillion = Blizzard North). But in my book thats a positive. Diablo is STILL considered one of the best PC games ever created. Besides, at what point in Diablo 1,2 or 3 where you able to do an Event Boss with 20 (or so) other player characters?

Marvel is a good fit to a Diablo style of game - cookie cutter builds with some customisation during the gameplay.

'Snooze fest' and 'sucki-ness' are just poor descriptiors. Its a good game a solid 8/10 and thats right now.. if they fix the balance issues and lag then that would go up.

Overall, it's a decent but extremely simple game. I can't see it having much longevity, though it will initially draw in a lot of superhero fans.

I'm 41 years old, love comic books, sci-fi and am a very large nerd - and I think its good.

'Diablo for Kids' - er no..

Note on simplicity - simplicity in a game is what you need to make it a great game.. simple to start then complexity goes up as you play.. those are all hallmarks of exceptional games.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you completely. There are already some Ultimate Allaince games and we don't need an online version. And if I wanted to play Diablo I'd go play that game. I expected a Marvel MMO. When I play this game I don't feel like I'm in the Marvel universe at all. Not only that but this game seems like it was made more for children than adults as the storyline in the game is very weak and the villians are not really villianous at all.

8/10? Really? I think you're pouring it on a little thick there. Max I'd give this game is a 5/10 due to the complete lack of innovation and the fact that it does absolutely nothing for the superhero MMO genre. DC Universe Online did a much better job with their MMO and it's a shame that Marvel didn't go the same route and make a 3D game instead of this mess.

That is where you first problem stems from.  You EXPECTED something that was not said.  This game is exactly what it sets out to be and does it well.

You can't base a game off of your expectations when your expectations were a complete 180 from what the developers said.  Did you watch any interview or read anything about this game before playing it?  Because your response is the exact response I expect from someone that did no research and had his own 'vision' of the game.

The developers delivered what they said they wanted to deliver, you can't shame a company for actually doing what it set out to do but you can by all means hate on a game because of some sort of 'vision' you had for it while in complete ignorance of what the developers openly said about their game.

Generic.  Boring.  Diablo clone in a lame and uninspired in-game atmosphere.  Shame.

So ridiculous running through the streets with ten other wolverines beating down a thousand thugs who all look identical.

It's definitely a fun game for short bursts of gameplay. Playing it for a long period of time will make you start feeling like it's getting repetitive.

So get  the game if you like games that allow for easy access 30 mins of fun.

    This is not a game.

Ive sampled the beta and loved my time playing, adn plant to continue playing, its fun. Nice pick up and play game play, quite addictive playing as all the diffrent characters. granted ive bought a few to play when game goes live, as enjoyed it. Had a few drops of other hereos and costumes so proving that dont need to pay if not want to . Its a fun free to play diablo like game and not to mind blowing to get into.

As you get deeper in to it, it gets harder and the need to team up more comesd apparant. i dont get how folks dont think its not an MMO, MMO doe not mean jsut WoW you know. There is lots of folks on line playing, granted some in similar heroes but well i dont mind that as in Diablo was many times running about in similar hereos , DIablo 1 ther was not that much customisation on screen, D2 had more but in all was still set looks, and the costumes in this game go some way to adding variety to folks.

I certainly plan playing it , and well as F2P can come and go as you please to it, the game does okay for a fun little hero hack n slash questing sorta romp around the landscapes.

Maybe im jsut easy pelase but i knew waht the game was when i picked it  up i knew there be point and click diablo type ARPG with Many folks running about  mashing mobs.

Its fun , addictive and is good foundation for it to eveolve which im sure in time it will. And is nice to se a fresh approach to a MMO genere then the usual DCUO, WoW, SWTOR  type games.

Interesting opinions here, for me the game has been a complete bore fest. The plots are dull and uninspired, the combat is tedious, the use of Marvel character as player is a deal breaker for me.. Watching 5 or 6 Daredevils run around the screen destroys the whole atmosphere.

The graphics are dated and in some cases appalling. (The image at the top of this thread is extremely misleading, the game looks nothing at all like this.).

The control methods are complex and sluggish.

MMO is a joke, it's a solo game with online players.

Marvel Heroes is not much more than a badly designed ARPG, the Marvel skin is it's only selling point, but all it will really do is prevent the world getting a proper Marvel MMO.

There are those who will disagree, but the general feelings of beta testers is that the game is so far below par that it can't be saved. If you are one of those who actually likes the game then I wish you well and hope for your sakes that the game succeeds, but I can't imagine that being the case.

First of all it's a multiplayer ARPG not a MMO.  If you are looking for a full blown MMO it's NOT it and I don't think the developers have ever pretended it was.

The game is fun overall for what it is.  Each of the 5 or 6 heros I tried did feel fairly unique in their own way with some being a lot more enjoyable at low levels than others.  The Hulk really is a blast to play especially with headphones on.   As I told the others in my household when they commented how load the game was.  "Hulk doesn't do quite".

Do I think the game has long term appeal?  Probably as a game I come back and play once and awhile sure.  It won't be the 2nd comming of WoW but who really expected it to be?

My two main gripes with the game right now are inventory management especially with crafting items and the lack of really random maps.  The maps change up a bit but no where near enough to really draw you into playing them over and over again searching for purples.

i found it to be boring and such.

and the eternal question in superhero games, when can we be badasses?

its just a hack n slash game with fancy marvel heroes.

Zooming in to your character with the graphics turned up would make it look like the screenshot above.

    This is not a game.

I've been following this game since it was announced being a fan of Marvel so your statement is void.

Also I just don't think you get it. Some people don't enjoy seeing 20 of the same characters running around. It ruins immersion. The graphics look extremely dated for 2013 and nothing like the screenshots would have you think. Locations are uninspired and often look very bland or the same as previous ones. Not only that but the storyline is just plain dreadful and doesn't even deserve to be attached to the Marvel name.

Dude, Bendis is the lead writer on this, so to say the story is horrible, basically insults him. They have not released everything yet, and not all the cut scenes are finished.

And while the game may have the issue with multiples of the same hero running rampant, its a different take then DCUO where MrFlabberHats helps Batman take down the joker. Plus, most of the characters feel and play like a comic fan would assume they would. Spider-man slinging webs and jumping around acrobatically with melee attacks, the hulk smashing and even the punisher and his arsenal. While some still need tweaks, overall the game is a nice step up from D2 and the IP will keep many interested so long as they continue to push out story lines.
