Can we please rotate the adds out

erictlewiserictlewis Member UncommonPosts: 3,022

All day the adds have been scarlet blade,  you would think you would have other adds coming it.  I know some folks like the adds others don't  All I ask is you throw something in between, I actualy feel you guys are spamming scarlet blade at us.

just do what i did: use an adblock to hide them all. there's some thread in the mmorpg.com sb forums on which images to block.

It would be nice if they changed every now and then. I don't mind advertising just a little variety would be nice.

    Current Scarlet Porn slogans:

"It's getting hot in here so take off all your gear"

"Prepare to get whipped... who's really in control?"

    "Desire can be dangerous"

Seriously? No really, seriously? What the heck does this have to do with MMOs?

    C'mon MMORPG.com, you're better than that...

    Aren't you?!

They do get rotated. The ones that get clicked on are kept in the rotation. The ones that aren't clicked on are dropped.

Don't worry, the 13 year olds who come to the site are mature enough to handle these advertisements, and I'm sure their parents would approve of this site as well if they glanced and saw these ads.

Blatant sarcasm of course, but regardless of how any one person feels they should consider that these are innappropriate for ages the site itself says can come here without a parent.

I guess to MMORPG.com the most important thing over anything ethical is the number of dollar bill signs they see.  It's extremely shameful to have been on this site for years and for them to prefer money over any kind of social responsibility.

Edit: If you were doing a presentation for your career, in front of a hundred employees, would you rather the gaming website Bungie.net have its homepage accidentally displayed, or would you rather those people see MMORPG.com have its homepage accidentally displayed?

It's innappropriate, but mmorpg.com is taking money to look the other way.

You do know mmorpg.com isn't advertising the game right ? Companies buy those spots with real money.... the money that pays to keep the site free for you....So when you say can " we" rotate the ADs or it would be nice if they changed them once in a while....what are you expecting them to do ? put up an Ad no one paid for because "we" who aren't paying anything to be here don't like the same ones over and over ?

They're up there over and over because scarlet blade is paying for them to be there. They stay up there because the Ads obviously work. Most crappy mmos get forgotten in a few days....these threads about the ads have been going on for weeks.

If you want them gone....give them a call and see how much that would cost " we " ...we being you of course.

We need more variety in the ads. Obviously they are starting to annoy members that come to the forums. Eventually they will get so annoying that people will simply stop coming to the forums for a while. I'm about at that point myself.

Please, swap out the adds. I'm sick of Scarlet Blade.

Ths question is why are they bothering you so much? Whats the deeper source of this frustration?
  • pmilespmiles Member Posts: 383
LOL, like people really even look at the ads all that much.  Are you looking to buy something or read the forums?  Sure the ads do what they are intended to... get your attention... but are you clicking any of them?  Unlikely.  If you can refrain from clicking, you can move your eyes back to the walls of text.

I have no real insight to our ads or who buys what (our owners run the business side of things), but if it's like the past? This month being over, next month should have new ones.

As another user mentioned, companies buy the space and the owners put up the ads.  Since we like having houses and food for our families, we oblige.  The better question I'd ask is... how the hell did Aeria manage to buy the whole month?!? Seems someone somewhere is actually playing that turd.

Again: Don't like it, Don't log.

Also: If you want to run a business, which is what you are attempting to do when you try to direct MMORPG.com as to what ads to show, go ahead and do it.

Edit: ahhhh NM, continue on, nothing to see here.

LmAo.. If that's true what does that say about folks on MMORPG.com..

PM before you report at least or you could just block.

Weird because I've had the big Scarlet Blade banner add for what seems like two weeks now and I certaintly haven't clicked on it. I'm honestly sick of seeing so much boob fill up my screen. It's even worse because I'm gay so it makes my tummy churn a little bit.

I don't believe in using adblock but users should be able to have an option where they don't have to see advertisements that post more adult-like images.

It works great just put the adds that bother you in the filter and bam. Problem solved for free.

This is your post from the last thread about this....guess it's not working so great ? Or are you just complaining about them again because seeing half naked women makes you feel wrong but you can't stop looking at them ?

They're selling the ability to take all your clothes off in the cash shop and you wonder how they have enough money to buy a whole month ?

..and no I don't play the game...

Kinda sad that the adds that keep this free site running bother you that much.   Really sad, down right pathetic actually.

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

Don't care. When the site owner / founder apologizes for calling everyone who uses an ad blocker thieves, maybe then I'll start giving a damn. When the site decides to actually listen to the complaints of folks who find certain ads offensive & inappropriate (I don't mind them, but can see why people would), then I'll start giving a damn. When the site actually gives a shit that it's moderators either make up new rules on the fly, or conveniently 'reinterpret' existing ones to punish people for saying something against an advertiser or a game they personally like, then I'll start giving a damn.

Until then, the adblock stays on.

    Have a nice day :)

Oh my god, these Ragnarok ads are too blatantly sexualized.  Please go back to the Scarlet Blade ads!
