Poll: Harvesting Types

fanglofanglo Member UncommonPosts: 314

I got to thinking about crafting and harvesting different nodes to produce items. How many do you think there should be in CU? Personally I always think the more the better. Here are some ideas. First you start with the basics: Wood, Ore and Skinning. Then maybe add some new unique stuff like Magical Pools, where you use buckets to collect the magical liquid. Maybe a redesign of War's Cultivating where a player pretty much plants their own crops and harvests them. We've already seen hinted that CU will have enemy Soul's as a crafting material as well. I think the more different types of harvesting you have in the game the greater potential for customization of items. For example, maybe too make a unique sword you need the soul essence of a Viking, 10 boards of lumber, 10 pieces of mithril ore and some liquid from a bitter pool (for poison effect).

I healed Mistwraith and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!

I'm curious what the 10 boards of wood are for -- stoking the fires of the forge?

These are my thoughts on the resources, each resource should be used by at least two crafts.  They have a primary craft that will consume the bulk of that resource, and a secondary craft that will consume a smaller percentage of that resource.  For some items like wood, there may not be much difference in consumption level.  Items like stone may see a large difference.

Stone - Building (Primary Use); Spellcrafting (Secondary Use)

Metal - Armor/Weapon Crafting (Primary Use); Building (Secondary Use)

Wood - Building (Primary Use); Fletching (Secondary Use)

Animal Products (leather, wool, meat, etc) - Tailoring (Primary Use), Alchemy (Secondary Use)

Crops (Wheat, Barely, Cotton, etc) - Alchemy (Primary Use); Tailoring (Secondary Use)

Precious gems could be used in all crafts to increase magical properties, and could come from Stone Quarries, Metal Mines, or Lumber Fields (Amber)
