Hi!
I know its a difficult question to answer, but i hope you guys can manage to answer anyhow
How big is the world in this game ? (MAYBE compared to wow, aion, or whatever you might wanna pick to compare, hell, could even be a single-player game, for all I care)........Or at least, how big do you feel that the game-world is as you are playing in it (subjective understanding/experience of it, phenomenology )
ALSO, HOW VARIED is the game world=? All just a ''European Landscape'' (Forests and green valleys), OR are there also deserts, mountains, barren wastelends, ice and snow covered areas, etcatera?
Thanks for any possible answers=)

You have all kind of landscapes. From demon infested towns over forest to jungle areas over floating islands with pirate ships to ice mountains. However the zones are narrorw if you have played EQ2 think Feerrott/Lavastorm/Everfrost desgin. The zones get bigger over time, but.......
I'm close to level thirty now, and I think if what you want is variety then you'll be fine.
But this game is basically a instance game, even the "open areas" felt a bit like big open dungeons, which means they aren't big enough for me to feel the epicness of the landscape. There're many maps and like I've said they're pretty different in many aspects, so for me it's sorta okay. But if you love the wowish open world then it's a big no for you...
There are no other cities to visit at the moment. Choice of city and deity is a matter of your character's background story, which does not affect gameplay (actually I think deity choice affects buffs you get from praying, but don't hold me on that).
You get to leave the city at around lvl20 and the game opens up from that point.
There better not be any snow covered areas! With all the grief that Guild Wars 2 gets over not having actual guild wars in it, Neverwinter better not be getting a free pass!!!
Not to mention that as a Canadian the biggest draw for me to this game IS the name!
:P
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
I am only level 11, but my question is, "Is there a world out there?"
All of my time thus far has been spent solely in Neverwinter City. Is there a way to walk out the gates and adventure? Does this happen at higher levels? I have not tried, to be honest, but curious

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Yes, it does.
Like someone said above. The public adventure areas are still kind of corridorish. You start by heading to other areas of Neverwinter city and into it's sewers which are being attacked by various forces but eventually you go outside of the city.
If you go to the world map type screen, even though many locations are red, you can still travel to them.
Lots of foundry quests I've done are in forest, coastal or mountain areas as well.

OK. Just gave it a shot. Basically, you can travel to other "predefined" points, bypassing all the land between any 2 points. Tried going to "Neverwinter Woods" and found there is no way to do so. I did click on Ebon Downs and went there, but found it was just another instance, separated from the rest of the world between points, which appears to not exist. Yikes...

yea game is a dungeon crawler the zones get bigger and bigger as you get higher but its in no way like gw2 or wow or anything where you can just run from zone to zone
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
Yeah if you compare this game to open world MMO it will lose every single time but see it from a different angle. Cryptic delivered only some points of interest and it's up to players to fill in the world. If you create Foundry missions you can choose a empty landscape and build from there, finally you could place the new area right next to a zone you visited before.
However it will just be another instance you chose from e.g. your world map it will not have any kind of "physical" connection without a loading screen.....
