It doesn't matter what you hope....they have a ranged magic user there's no ranged physical...so it's obvious it will be a bow ranger. Could have done without rangers at all, really.
And two-blade rangers would be lack-luster, as most of their abilities are based on group mobility and things of that nature. They already have rogues.
Just because every car has similar features doesn't mean that Ferraris are copies of Model Ts. Progress requires failure and refining.
I first read "Dragons of Autumn Twilight" about 25 years ago which opened up the world of Fantasy and led to my first AD&D character being a Half-Elf Ranger.
To add the Ranger Class to Neverwinter and not make it an Archer is, in my opinion, a grevious mistake. I'll admit that the Two-Blade Ranger would be interesting to see, but the downsides of not having a balance beween Melee and Ranged DPS cannot be ignored.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Awesome with a bow, had one of the largest ranged bow attacks, and could fly off to unreachable spots to take pot shots and consequently negate the debuff the uber attack left you with.
...Doubt I'll ever get to play that in Neverwinter.
