How is this game for the hardcore MMO player?

Somewhat interested in the game, but Im wondering if its just an on rails cash grab or a legit MMO I can spend a lot of time on and progress through.

-Seemingly- the late-game progression lies in aquisition, diamond sinks seem to be the point of it all after so long. Again I must stress that I said seemingly,  I could be wrong.

    Depends on you playstyle.

There is no raiding, world feel I'd say SWTOR is close to it as it feels very closed in and corridor like.  Asking if its legit is stirring the hornets nest.  Yes content is free n so are classes, but Cryptic charges you for every single thing they can from mount training to mounts to gear to runestones (equivilent to gems in WoW where you have to buy stuff from their store in order to upgrade the runes) to bags to health stones to pots that give significant buffs to bout every friggin thing they can.  Advocates say you will be able to earn ADs but the rate at which one can earn no where compares to what is feasable and you pretty much forced to buy items you want.

Hardcore MMO player?  This will certainly not be for you as GW2 has more content that this game provides.  People will say that the Foundry will be content but that will be a give or take.  If you are the type that reads every single quest log n lore thingy they yes it will be content, but if you are a dungeon grinder and riader it certainly not be content.  However the game is free so your only losing time trying it out and you decide.

This here is at the heart of it. The cost for higher level gems and equipment is silly high for refined AD. Far more are required than can ever be gained by normal in-game means, unless you save up for months. As a "hardcore" player when you run into the artificial gates for content and limits on AD refining and similar other things, in all likelihood, it will just piss you off. This game was not really made for hardcore players, that will run into those gates. The endgame is a pure escalating money grab, and there is no real alternative to paying out the cash to buy refined AD beyond a certain point.

As far as I see this is very much a game for the casual player, who plays for fun more than for gear or bragging rights. If you won't like playing new foundry missions for subpar rewards you won't play it for long.

If by hardcore you mean playing alot of hours, this game isn't too bad.  With the foundry there should always be something new coming up.  I really do enjoy the foundry, it reminds me of P&P.  Like most MMOs, it's alot more fun with friends.  I have about 40 of my friends that I've known from Lotro (mainly, everyone seems to be from there lol), WoW, Rift, and old MMOs.  I'm always grouping up with them and we go do dungeon delves and foundry together.  The later levels are harder, but it's still fun.  I just wish there was an archer or bard :)

Hi i am new here in the community!

The first thing I'd like to say about it, because I've mentioned that it uses an action combat system and I've also mentioned Perfect World Entertainment, is that Neverwinter is not another RaiderZ. That is to say, it's not a low budget TERA knockoff with a shitty engine and miserable, bug ridden BAM encounters that serve only to highlight how woeful the hit-boxing and collision detection are.

Neverwinter is a big budget triple-A MMO. Its action combat is technically sound, fun to use and doesn't actually ape TERAs in any other way than 'also being an action combat system'. Combat animations are wonderful. Cryptic have packed a lot of detail into a relatively low number of frames, which can look AWFUL (see: Guild Wars 2 when it's not hiding the mess with blurs) but in Neverwinter's case serves to accelerate the pace without affecting readability.
The violence is sudden, savage, and there's a real feeling of impact strengthened by the way that dispatched enemies ragdoll with believable force in the direction they were last struck. The sound effects, from steel collisions to screams and roars are of high quality and add much to the goings on as well.

So what about content? Well, a significant detraction from the score of this game, and my keynote criticism of it, is that its story is as easy to overlook as any other MMOs. I wasn't reading quest boxes for more than five minutes before I started snapping my cursor over the green ticks and following the sparkling quest guidance as quick as I could. No doubt this is an almost impossible obstacle for any MMO to overcome, and clearly the effort that might have been spent trying has been spent making the game exceptional in other areas instead, but... this is a DnD game.
For me, DnD has always been about the stories that arise out of the sword-swishery. So I was in danger of drawing expectations out of that mindset and then being disappointed before I adjusted. If you're anything like me, you'll have to adjust too.
