The Neverwinter team has released a brand new video featuring the Whispering Caverns, the highest level zone in the game. It's a terrific peek at what lies ahead. Enjoy!
Everything about this game had possibilities but after playing it in both beta and release (soft release for those of you who argue OB is not release) it remains a mindless and boring game (to me).
I figured that since it was F2P (generally) I would install it and keep it on the side. After a few days, I couldn't even justify the HD space.
Maybe if they add an archer class I'll give it one more shake.
I am glad for those who are really enjoying it but for some reason this title was just not what I was hoping for.
I normally don't like F2P games. I actually enjoy this one, but the CS prices are just too high for my liking. I don't mind supporting a title that I enjoy, but in PWE fashoin it's more of a cash grab than anything. If it were a sub w/ a CS for cosmetic stuff then I would be happy to drop $15 a month on it.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I totally agree. The F2P concept is nothing more than enticing you on loots and items and then you had to spend more than $15 on items that you wanted. This concept feels more like ......... Fund-2-Play.

Wow, a very insightful comment. So when my mother pulls a gun and shoots me, its naturally good if she spent every minute of her life making me happy before that? So long as she was perfect all the way before that being shot by her can be shrugged off since she is so great before!
So that last detail dismisses it, much like if a studio doesn't have the cleanest track record, if they gave you a gold bar you should obviously thing its terrible and throw it in the trash?
There is a sharp difference between being skeptical and being ignorant and labeling something wtihout giving it a chance.
I've been playing in the open beta for the last few days and I have to agree with manyh people that this is not D&D. IMHO this is a WoW clone. Gone is the customization of what the true essence of D&D was. It's not like Neverwinter is a bad game. It's just not D&D. When I'm pl,aying I'n looking at the talent trees and the PvP that was and still is Warcraft. For example, the control wizard has arcane and cold spells only. What happened to Otto's Irresistable dance or lightning of fireballs for Christ's sake? You don't choose skills anymore. You don't choose feats anymore like lightning reflexes or two weapn fighting. It's all just talent trees. I don't know if this is Cryotic's fault. Maybe it's just the 4e rule thing. But I can't believe i'm going to say this but a truer D&D experience is Dungeons and Dragons online. I didn't really like that game so much but at least I felt like I had control over my character and that the choices I made about feats and skills mattered. I don't get that with Neverwinter. I honestly feel like I am playing a modern version of the arcade game Gauntlet (children born after the 90's look it up) rather than a D&D game. I'm really not hating. Just expressing my disappointment. Will I play it? Maybe. Will I ever consider it D&D? Sadly no. I will just go back to playing DDO in the hopes that someone will eventually wake up and realize that D&D needs to get back to basics and make a game built on rules prior to 4e. It's a dream I have.

Cryptic's fault. While 4e changed things up a bit, feats n skills were still there,
Off topic: Control Wizard has ice, lightning and arcane powers. NW really needs another mage class with Fire, air, and earth based spells.
Or add those elements to the control wizard as well. Fire does good damage and Air and Earth are great for crowd controll. Its a control wizard after all. And watching only ice and lightning here and there with the ocassional arcane ultimate gets boring fast. Need more variety of magic elements.
Game is meh for me, it's a roleplayer(D&D), small scale pve'er, and custom missioner(Foundry) aimed type of game. Being a hardcore pvp'er myself I knew what I was getting into and I'm enjoying Neverwinter for exactly what it is.
Won't keep me much more than a few weeks, the horrible balancing in the pvp will only drive me away sooner, foundry is the best feature for sure.

Yeah, how can they create a Neverwinter game without rangers or something like that.
Now how can you ruin a game ? Answer: f2p
