I've given up trying to register. This has been a total train wreck and makes me think this company are a complete bunch of cowboys.
Another half decent looking game bites the dust for me.

Well that linked for myself personally out of the various links that had been quoted. Although not 100% sure BT Click and Buy worked.
What is Easy Collect?
Easy Collect is a special settlement procedure that is used by selective merchants. In order to buy from these merchants, you need to grant an Easy Collection Authorisation previous to the actual buying process. With this authorisation the merchant is able to debit your account for that specific amount at a later point of time. You can cancel the Easy Collection Authorisation anytime you like. Just grant an Easy Collect Authorisation and pay conveniently!
Administer your Easy Collect Authorisations:
To get an overview of your Easy Collect Authorisations granted, please proceed as follows:
1. Log on with your username to My Account.
2. You can find a list of all your Easy Collect Authorisation by clicking on >>Transactions/ Statements>>Easy Collect.
Note: Please consider that if you once have cancelled an Easy Collect Authorisation, you are not able to buy from this merchant without granting an Easy Collection Authorisation once again.
I have the Easy Collection Authorisation set up. The thing is I cannot get the final click&buy screen to load, and apparantely you need to have that final confirmation screen load before you get the order confirmation from Dark and Light and the key. This is according to others posting on the several threads on these problems. Aparently only folks this far that have an actual email from DnL confirming, and have received their keys are the ones who got this last screen to load. Now I have no experience with click&buy. I set up an account in readiness for this purchase.
I've now been trying for over six an a half hours and the final click&buy screen always stalls me.
I tend to agree with the OP given this. Never in my life have I had so much hassle trying to give somebody some of my money! Anyway it's bed time now in the UK and after six and a half hours of clicking and pressing F5 I'm calling it a day. If they don't want my money, which I'm giving them on trust, then I think I've had it with DnL for now.

Well I'll be damned. I hit F5 to reload the final click&buy page just before making my last post here and it was my last try before giving up and going to bed. Checked the other browser tab and saw this:
Congratulations on your purchase. A confirmation email has been sent to your registered email address. By subscribing to the Pioneer pack, your account has been created and your licence key has been activated for the opening of Dark and Light in April 2006.
Furthermore, you have been automatically granted access to Settler¿s of Ganareth to participate in the free events and the specific Pioneers events. The schedule of the operations (download, server opening, events agenda) is available at www.darkandlight.com/download.html.
I checked my email and sure enough there is an email there waiting fron DnL:
"Congratulations, you're now part of the 8 881 private Dark and Light Pioneers society!"
Well blow me, how did they know that was my last attempt and I'd just posted to say I was I was through with trying? Are they psychic?

Firefox seems to have been the ticket for me. I tried for like 6 straight hours to order. Downloaded Firefox and whizzed right through registration on my first try after that. Wish I'd known that 6 hours earlier. Would have made me much more pleasant for my family on Thanksgiving.
Firefox FTW! .
Although it took me over seven hours from the UK, I do feel for US players. It was bad enough for me on an ordinary Thursday night, but to have this on one of your major celebrations must have been a real trial. You have my sympathy.

i went straight through no problem in firefox, not a single time-out. Though it might have to do with the fact that i waited until there wasn't nearly 3000 people trying to do it all at once.
and please don't say this has to do with NP3 being a crappy company. I seem to recall having a hell of a time registering for WoW right when it came out. but then again WoW never got that many subscribers did it.
Make of it what you will.
The more I use firefox the more I like it over IE.
