From 10 to 13 May, Cryptic will be holding an open beta test weekend on the Tribble server to test the new expansion content. Those participating for at least one hour will receive a reward post launch.

I just recently started to play this game and I have to say, it is quite good and was really surprised at just how many players were around me showing off their awesome starships with me in my baby starter ship.
I watched the dev blog on Raptr about this new LoR expac and it does look like a very good expec tbh.
Skeloton: it's freemium (formerly sub game went f2p, still have a sub option though if you like that better).
Pretty much the whole game is free, and there's an in-game Store for some convenience and fluff. It's totally worth it to download and play it to the level cap, you can do it for free without inconvenience (maybe the inventory will be a bit tight towards the end).
And if you like the game enough, than at the end you can spend some cash for character slots or bigger bank, or cosmetic fluff, or as BreakingBad wrote to buy some flashy ships to show off
Not to forget you can earn Zen ingame, so if you play long enough you can buy those things for free.
game is F2P,download is free,if you are lack with free time,if you have RL & work you ll spend some $$$$, as me.
you can make nice friendships in game , personally I am meet great ,friendly players who give me best social interaction in an mmo for now.That peoples are only one reason why I sometimes log in STO ,& keep this game on my HDD
LoR is great content but as romulan fan ,tribble(test server) is only place where I am playing as romulan, I would pay for romulan star empire faction .
Cant imagine to play romulan on Fed/KDF side.
So far, had a great time with the beta. I've enjoyed the Romulan tutorial, and missions. And I love flying the Romulan ships.
Really looking forward to this going on the live server.
