Well, I did have problems with MO before the latest performance patch. But it did wonders for both me and alot others. I'm guessing you haven't tried it after the latest patch since your one of MOs most infamous critics here alongside Slappy and Hancakes.
Edit. And you won't find thread after thread about performance issues on MO forums now. While DFUW forums is flooded with them.
It's 3 years after release... only the true diehards remain. There are thousands upon thousands of new players to DF:UW
And people have been making those same claims about MO being "fixed" for years. Literally YEARS. yes, maybe it's a lot better now... maybe not. Unfortunately, not very many folks seem to care.

You do realize you are comparing a month old game to one that been out for years?
You do realize that DFUW has been made with the old engine, only made some graphical upgrades on it etc, and you could say it has been in development since 2002 when Aventurine was made, or to be nice then, 2005 when you could start to sign up for closed BETA for DF1. Every1, including the fanbois, knows that DFUW hasn't been built up from scratch. Get a grip.
And also, you do know DFUW has ~50 devs while SV have ~3... I would say that SV does almost as well as AV with 3 peeps. They sure communicate ALOT better then AV that's for sure, although AV has gotten better. At least they get more active when things are heating up. Like just before launch, or now, just before first monthly payment...

There are still new people finding MO, but ofc DFUW has more peeps joining now since it just released, and also is a easier game to get into then MO. With all the safe zones etc. But I can promise you the population we be halfed at least after this first month. I prolly test it again at the end of august, cause if they stick to that release plan, that's when it seems the game will be in a more finished state. So much for having alot of content rdy right after release...
If they screw ME, I will happily do likewise but so far that is not the case. Sorry you are having issues.. personally I have all my settings turned down except clipping and I can get FPS as high as the 280s... it dips to under 100 when a ton of people are around but it's been liquid smooth for me so far. I have crashed twice in PvP which is annoying but twice in however many battles I have had is pretty good.
I hope AV NEVER makes it a F2P game.. that would be a nightmare...
So you mean that you were the ONLY one that had his renewal date set at may 16th all the time, while the rest of us, that got the game before and in beta, had it set in june. I had the 15th of june myself. And a week before the 16th of may have it changed to a month earlier? Allow me to call BS on that one. Sure the date set to june 16th was set during beta, but most peeps thought it counted since the game has been down alot etc. And to not go out and say that they changed the date is, how shall I put it, well, shady to say the least. And let me get this right, you don't care if they screw others over, as long as they don't screw you? Gotcha.
It's very weird that some, or even most peeps, me among them, and mind you, I can run Planetside 2 on highest settings etc and have no problem, but we can't play DFUW without constant loadlag and ping spikes. Then some, mostly fanbois as it seems, claim they have no problems what so ever with the game, and also play the game on laptops etc to prove how good it runs. Well, I can't say it ain't true, but I know what monster computer I have, and that I still suffer, mostly from the INSANE ping spikes that freezes the screen for 3-4 secs, and that completely ruins PVP in the game. And the game doesn't have ANYTHING else going for it right now then PVP. Two guys, outa 60ish in my clan say it runs well, while the rest of us suffers. So it might be that 1 outa 50 can play it smooth while the rest suffers. But as long as it doesn't happen to you, then I guess it ain't a problem...
I have no idea whatsoever if my date showed June at some point. Last time I checked I think it showed February. I simply assumed that I would be billed a month after release as that's what they said would happen...
I am certainly not a fanboy... This is not a longterm game for me. I'm thinking 6 months or so (about as long as I played DF1), but you never know. Here is my system (nice but certainly not a monster)
I5-3750K
Radeon 7950
8GB RAM
250 GB SSD
It could certainly be the SSD that makes the difference. I will never, EVER buy a computer without one again. I can regularly get FPS over 280 in some places... I have all settings low/off except for clipping. It is very rare that it ever drops below 100. If you have PINGSPIKES... that seems to be something related to your network or a hop between you and the server and nothing to do with your system...
There is a siege nearby tonight involving EMPIRE which is a huge newbie clan (300+). I will probably go scroach some.. I'll let you know how it goes... if it's going to clog up I imagine it will be tonight.
I sit on I7 clocked to 4.0 GHz.
GeForce GTX 590.
16GB RAM
And also a 250 gig SSD disc...
But that doesn't help me from getting these load lags and ping spikes. Annoying as hell...

Nope. The clan uses TS3. But I've heard about the mumble issue as well. But as I said before. Almost my entire clan have this issue. Especially in PVP. Keep reading bout people making other crash through hacks and having their ping go up. But I haven't crashed like that in PVP. Only gotten the frozen screen for 3-4 secs, and something like 50k ping. It's silly. And makes PVP unplayable for me. But I don't wanna yell "HACKS!!!", cause I think there must be something in the coding that makes this, and hopefully they can solve it. But I will wait til more content gets in as well before I resub.

It still features new combat system and new content, as well as new mechanics. And as you said yourself, it is old engine, with many updated graphics so it is a given that it would have issues running better visuals with older tech.

But they've been working on it for several years... As I said. Their own engine from the get go. Only UPGRADES to THEIR OLD engine. They didn't build it from scratch like they did first. You were the one saying DFUW is brand new, when it uses ALOT from their own first game. So it ain't like they made the game from scratch. It has better graphics and new, worse combat. But every1 agrees that the game has way less content then DF1, and runs worse as well, and is made by ~50 devs compared to MOs ~3 devs.
We can make a feeble experiment. So take the manpower AV have ~50, and multiply it with say 8 hours per day, times a week, times around say 45 weeks a year, times 8 years since release. That's around 720 000 working hours. And let's say, to be kind to MO that they've had around 10 devs each year. They had more in the begining, and now it's down to 3 I think. But we say 10 all the years since 2008. If I use the same numbers as with AV 10 devs x 8 hours x 5 days x 45 weeks x 5 years. We get 90 000 hours.
So even if these numbers is nowhere near correct, one can still figure out that AV has had more hours put into their game. So I hoped it would be better then it is now. But if they do hold up to what they have set up, it could be something to test again come august when they have more content in, and hopefully fixed performance more.
Originally posted by deathshroud after my free month of DF UW, the game auto subbed me and i have ended up paying for another month. not best pleased but its cancelled now.
Cool beans... more companies following SV's example. I say let both of them die slowly unless they build some respect towards their customers. The lack of sandbox titles shouldnt be an excuse for them to scre their customers in any given chance nor releasing unfinished crap.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
