Okay I live in the UK and it is so bad for MMORPG'S it is very damn rare you find a MMORPG in the shops it is so crap! Sure Lineage 2 n WoW and GW but everytime I got to the US I see tons of MMORPG'S same with the Koreans! Damn them! It is so not fair!

yeah, i've noticed that too. stores like EB and Gamestop have totally reduced their PC game inventory.
i remember going into these stores and seeing a whole wall of PC games. now they have them on 2 small shelves. i guess thats what happens when there are so many different consoles and eash one has tons of games...

I live in UK so i always order online, the only place iv ever really ordered from is Gameplay, its simply awesome, next day delivery and all that stuff, check it out if you havnt heard of it, you can pretty much search for any game you want.

iv never failed to get an mmo that i wanted from there, you have to remember alot of mmos dont even sell box sets only the bigger names of the mmorpg world.
And one last thing, am i the only person who figured enixryan was korean or somthing, i was shocked after reading this post and checking his profile

Consoles are acceptable and are a social norm.
Computer gaming still has the heavy geek factor to it.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

Console is kiddie stuff. Its what parents buy to their kids. its more money, because it fits both kids and adults. Computers are for a more mature crowd, that need at least basic knowledge of the alphabet. So more money.. sure, kids double the attractive consumer base...
Social norm? If the social norm is 8 year olds with chocolate all over their face.. sure. Nothing geeky about 8 year olds and their equals of all ages....

Im sorry you took my take on this as an insult, but I think you need to look deeper into this.
If you goto most guys houses, what do you see?
Well if they are 16 to mid 20's chances are, an Xbox, or a PS2.
These are acceptable.
Grand Theft Auto, Madden, NHL, all those franchises are socially acceptable. You will see hockey players with X-Boxs playing NHL 2006, you'll see the "cool" people playing their GTA.
This is purley observational, but I think if stop and look at the people you know. You hear a lot more about people playing the Xbox, than playing on the computer.
Consoles are purley for games, and in that regard, they do it better than a computer because they put 100% of their resources towards playing the game, not running and OS, graphic application and other things like that.
Computers for a more mature crowd? Maybe as a side effect.
Most people get a computer, to do work, email, socialize... and gaming is somthing else they can do on it.
If you buy a console, you dont plan on typing up papers on it, you plan on playing games.
Computers need upgrades to keep up with the new games, they fall behind quickly, and can have all sorts of problems with hardware.
Console you just buy it, plug it in and play games, everyone is equal, no overlocking or getting a new cooling system to compete, no having to understand all these complex computer things. All you do is put it in and play.
Its much more simple, and thus its much more appealing to a wider audience.
Back to the nerdy aspect of the Computer. Ever since the beginning computers have always have the "aura" of geekyness.
Im a Computer technician... has never been a good pickup line.
Computers are associated with the geeks for a long time. Its starting to change, now that more and more people use them, but the image of the buck tooth, white collar geek is still there, and its gona be there for a while longer.
In some European Countries especially and starting now in the states is the new image of the gamer, being tough, smart person. With the big name competitions comming out name, most people know what Counter Strike is.. most cant tell you too much about it, but they will be able to tell you its a computer game.
People are starting to hear about tournaments, and some gamers with 6 figure incomes are making a name for themselves in the papers. Its changing, but the old image of us all being fat buck tooth brainiacs still lingers, and I think its gona be around a while longer. Where as the console isnt really plagued by the same mis concepstions due to the simplistic nature of it, as well was the marketing for Consoles tends to appeal to a more broader audience, as well as come off as a "cooler" thing to do.

we may have a slight lack of PC games on certain shops shelves, but as far as i know no'one came along and stole all of the dictionaries and abolished grammar. sort it.
anyway, ever looked in HMV? complete aisle dedicated to PC games. a lot on offer or simply cheap.

My local EBGames is pretty good at getting in MMORPG's, but then again the manager is a serious MMORPG nut. So he knows what's coming out and lets us know when he can order them in
