help me to understand

Is there a good reason why these pre orders were not handled by a place like Electronic Boutique or Gamestop or some other reputable third party store and not directly through the developers site?

It's a mystery batman!

the mystery is why you think a company that handles 4.5 million accounts which include ITunes and Playboy would not be qualified to handle this.

knowledge can be your friend if you just let it.

Not to mention having British Telecoms as one of its backers. One of the the biggest telecommunications companies on the planet.

So let me get this straight. Instead of putting their game into the hands of some of the most popular online stores there is they go with some company that I've never even heard of to handle the orders.

Do you know why they didn't go with E&B or Gamestop? Because they could'nt. They would never have been allowed to sell what they have through them simply because it isn't good enough to even take pre orders yet or should we say full orders for something that needs at least 6-8 more months of work. Why do you think they don't even have a publisher? Because no publisher would touch it in it's current form.

You're right.  Gamestop doesn't sell vaporware.

EBGames and Gamestop are retail stores, they do not handle transactions for third parties.

Click & Buy is slowly becoming a popular online transaction system, but their focus is on the european market, which is probably why you haven't heard of them.

What I do not understand is the sixty dollar price. I go buy a game in the store and it might cost me 50 or 55  dollars. Now the store is making a profit here, the distributor and the carrier that delivers the boxes are making money. The publisher and whoever makes their disks, boxes, manuals are making some money and the developing company itself is also making enough coin hopefully for it to be a viable venture for them.

Here you have no publishing, manufacturing, or distribution costs and they are charging more than what I would pay in a store for the average top shelf game.  Greed, or just desperate for money? You decide.

Yea that is a conundrum, Look at the xbox 360 games they are 60 dollars thats the new market standard for xbox games. Now adays it takes much longer to make a game than it did 3 years ago or even 10 years ago. The meticous amount of time devolpers put in solid 3d environment, lifelike graphics, models, script, code, not so much story but i feel it could be time consuming. Though i don't think DnL graphics are worth the 60 as the xbox games. Second all we get is a email with a key attached. and a map... that we don't know if we get in the mail (i hope so) or a freakin .pdf... so we get no box which is a dang shame.

and by the way - I'll say your picture is a fair representation of what you'll see when you log in. A dodo in an empty world with a few tree sprouts on the horizon. ;]

Damn that squirrel is hung like a bear!!

Anywho, it is obvious from your posts that you dont spend more than a few seconds coming up with your "points". It is also obvious you have never seen the inside of the stress test let alone the current beta build. Your posts would be slightly amusing if they werent so utterly off the mark.

You make some good points, but the fact is that the keys could and would have sold for more. Simple supply and demand.

The keys were sold in two days and there are people who are complaining they didnt get one and still want to buy one. Sooooooooooooooo simple marketing tells you they went too cheap.

Whether we think the price was too high or not is irrelevant since the market has shown us that the keys were sold too cheap.
