So we have learnt something new then. Don't have real money transactions in a beta game. You see a game in the beta stage of it's life is in fact not complete , therefore having real money flying around an unfinished product is not the way to go. Hopefully people will learn from this , dev's and users alike. Just don't do it! Or at least if you can join a beta stage in a game don't part with your money until they claim their game is a full and final release.
Cheers,
BadOrb.

So utilizing authorized exploits is ok. Did they provide a list of unauthorized exploits?

it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience
because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."

LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in

playing an MMORPG?"
What's "repaired" about the exploit? More like band aided if you ask me. They disabled the systems people used to exploit the game and to contain the damage, I don't see any fixes yet.
Originally posted by Cochran1 As I read thread upon thread about this I have to wonder, if this exploit truly did exist 3 or more weeks ago why did it not turn into this massive spectacle it is before yesterday? According to posts everyone knew about it, or better yet they heard that it apparently existed since closed beta. I haven't seen many of these posts claiming they actually knew about the exploit and reported it before yesterday. It leads me to conclude that it existed only a few days and that most are simply jumping on the hearsay bandwagon regurgitating what they've read over the past few days.
I was in the first weekend beta test, the -money AH bug was there then. I will not go into the details of how this works. You can see my posts on FP / Twitter / and the forums at NW. I am a huge advocate for the game. Huge D&D fan. But to not wipe the servers is a total lack of responsibility on Cryptic / PWI part.
I have found numerous posts with SS where the report for the bugs and exploits were reported as far back as 16 days, which is a few days after this "soft launch" started!
It was there, still is there in some cases that I again will not go into. I am not an exploiter, never have been in any game, never will be. It ruins the game and the fun, and what would I be teaching my kids that play with me if you cheat to play the game! Not everyone that reports hacks / exploits / cheats is a cheater. Believe it or not, there are still some gamers from the EQ days in the late 90's that play for the love of the game.
Originally posted by neviu yea the exploit been going on for some time they where to ignorant to fix,
This keeps being repeated across all forums but no one has provided any proof to this effect.
One person said it, which then was repeated and is now known as fact, when in reality, it's likely not.
actully the reason for this not being widely known is most people who found out about it where smart enough to keep it under wraps from going public, cause of the profit like tis, exploit bugs like this that are not obvoius tend to sneak past notice for a very long time,
whats more the way the exploit works is something that you would have to do on accident to even get to happen, if it hadnt been posted in the main forum it wouldd still prob be under the cover for a few more weeks, as long as people where smart about it,
after all its not like cryptic games have stable econmeys to begin with
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
So before you start claiming some wild ass ideas, might want to get your facts straight about whos running around make up rumors and jumping on any band wagons!!

Someone asked "why all of this started yesterday?". Because they banned Kripp yesterday almost for nothing. Check the end of his video, he mentions something about negative bids.
This is really typical of both Cryptic and PW. I am not surprised at all. I just cannot believe people are so gullible as to think this game is worth spending money on. Get your fun out of the game and then get out. If you are foolish enough to spend money, all I can say is it must be nice to have money to throw away.
I did have fun playing the game, but what is the point of developing a character when sticking around requires dumping a lot of money in the game?

Yeah, a 7 hour rollback is gonna make it ALLLL better! Let's not mention the days of reports and petitions prior to this 7 hour window. And they still won't comment on Boss respawning exploits, gear set bonuses that are insanely bugged, any one of innumerable other issues...
Because they banned Kripp https://www.youtube.com yesterday almost for nothing. Check the end of his video, he mentions something about negative bids.
Our inquiry for further details has been passed on for further clarification from the devs. Let's hope they get back to me soon.
Although I am sure they won't mention it themselves, this exploit seems to be a near exact duplicate of the one affecting that other PWI/Cryptic game Star Trek Online. STO also had a negative bid exploit so apparently their coders didn't learn from the mistake and just had to go and do it all over again...
" Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't play this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, and you'll never whine or repent about gaming hours anymore, then have a go at every Game. Open up the Internet, join in all the Mmorpgs you can. Go make the Guild. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. "
I'm still a little unclear on what exactly the exploit was. Can anyone be so kind as spoon feed me what happened? From what I understand this was about buying Astral Diamonds. What were people doing exactly?
We reached out to Cryptic directly, and are awaiting a response.
"Open beta" or not, this is pretty suspect.
It is suspect as they didn't fix anything! They just plugged the hole and brought the service back online as fast as they could. All for the bottom line. Profitting!
1. The 7 hour rollback is a joke and nothing more than a token action. Pure for PR purposes. Especially since this exploit became Public at least 24 hours prior to the servers being taken Down! So People have been mass exploiting this for a hell lot longer than 7 hours!
2. The exploit existed since OBT started and the smart ones have been exploiting this very carefully and using tons of mule accounts to launder everything away.
3. They now gave out some perma bans. Again, just a token action for PR purposes, as only the Extreme cases of the last couple hours prior to shut Down got this perma ban. Most got away With just a 72 hour suspension! Absolutely hilarious, as it just means the ones that have been exploiting this the most and done so for weeks keep all their AD and get away With it. All due to the amount of accounts they have been using to spread it out.
But the most disturbing thing of this all, is how it all Plays directly in PWE's favor!
1. The AD/Zen Exchange ratio is back to 500 to 1 !
2. All Zen is gone, so People have to repopulate the AD/Zen Exchange With Zen again With "REAL" Money!
No matter how the most die hard fans try to Slice this. No matter how PWE and Cryptic try to PR spin this. It's a Financial win/win situation for PWE's bottomline! Profit!
I agree it could be a nice Financial win/win for them but if i can get more AD for my Zen again than i win too.
My money is worth more again thats a positive thing.
Its really only bad for the ppl who don't want to spend any real money to play and well i honestly don't care about them.

This game is an outright money sink.
Don't you think having fun is worth spending some money? Just take take take and never thinking of giving.
I'm enjoying the game and having fun. I just bought the founder's pack so far but if I continue to have fun, I'll think about buying something else. My time is valuable so if something is worth my time, then it's worth some money.
Originally posted by Dahkoht The bug was in STO months ago - they are just idiots or lazy developers.
Or both is more likely from what I am seeing.
Correct... from what I have read on different sites this is a bad code that was found in STO a while back and they just copied the code into NWO. Exploiting a game is bad, but what is worse is when the company was so lazy as to use bad code that was confirmed in another game for the new game. At this point I have lost any trust in PWE and especially Cryptic I ever had.

Yeah, some people seem to like it. More power to them. It's not for me, though.

And that post was made on the 11th of May, so saying they didn't know about it for weeks is the biggest load of shit on the inet right now.
