Looking at the graphics its clear to me this sandbox is going to push my PC to the limits .

Instead of cartoon candy land this game offers amazing realism and I can't wait to see more videos. Its too good to be true !

This is the first video .

In a land of disproportional Asian garbage art

Where your first quest is to figure out if your character is male or female

With an unrealistically over-sized phalic sword you'll take part,

in a under-whelming copy of the ten-thousand other Korean MMO's for sale.

did you watch the video?  Generally I agree, but nothing you are talking about was even in the video

Yep, It actually looked like it had potential until I saw the character models. A lot of these games look great when they show the environments and I realize it's early but generally my flags get thrown up now when things start looking a bit too girly for me. i.e. dainty chicks on frilly white horses. Especially when the bow they are using looks like it should be married with a pew pew pew sound effect.

It would have been funny if it actually was relevant, but Black Desert looks and feels nothing like your typical Korean MMO, like TERA, Aion, BandS or the 500 F2P clones of those 3.

The weapons are relative sized to the people, no overly bright colour palette, set in a medieval setting, the bow is just  a piece of wood, the horses look very natural, etc.

It looks that good and it's a pre-alpha video, Black Desert is going to be a AAA action combat sandbox and it looks very promising.

This is the second trailer, using the same song and presentation but different footage.

Also if you follow their facebook page theyve given detailed informaiton about the addition of "assasins creed style" parkour, dynamic weather system and player trade routes.

perhaps it is because I remember how good Age of Conan looked, perhaps it is because it is Korean and I have never found a Korean game I liked. I did like the little poem. I don't like hype on a game in alpha that calls the game AAA based on graphics. Just my opinion as your assessment was yours. Yes i did read the page on it. Sounds very nice... if implemented. If..

    Currently bored with MMO's.

It was the little details in the trailers that got my attention.

A guy limping through a forest with a log on his shoulder. No chop, chop, chop and my log just vanishing in to an invisible bag with the other 98 logs that just some how fit in there.

A building that had holes in the roof and boards missing on the walls, saying someone made it then left and it went in to disrepair.

The absolute gigantic size of the game world. Whole continents, many of them.

Combat looked like this little slice of the entire game and that really made me look up.

"it's asian, it sucks". I smell fear. That someone is doing something better than you are. Learn to compete or learn to retreat. Simple as that.

Add on. And bewbies. I still like bewbies.

actually most games are trhowaway... nothing last forever... even a year

  • VorchVorch Member UncommonPosts: 793
Most definitely on my radar. If it's got combat like Vindictus, I'm gonna definitely be interested.

one should have never believed one game could be the one, nothing is , some players might play something for year or 2 but generally its one month honeymoon and then eyes on next one.

Seems like I first saw a video for this game years ago.  I could be wrong, but I know it's been a long time since I've heard anything new about it... a very long time.  Are we sure this isn't vapor?

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

I can do without the flashy animations, but the rest looks really good.

I'll have to keep an eye on this one. Thanks for the link.

Animation means nothing in a sandbox, its all about the features, content, player choice, exploration, crafting, and game mechanics. If it doesnt have a good combination of those things, doesnt matter what the graphics look like, it will fail.

If it is as gigantic as it seems... I'd believe it's been a very long time o.o.

The animations are typical Asian style.

The human models are typical Asian style.

the Combat is very very typical Asian style .

The female human model is typical , the long legs, big breast super doll. the human males are all wearing make-up it seems and the giants type males are all scary and ugly..

it needs a lot of work  or it wont appeal to the western market at all..well not more then all other typical Asian grind games

Looks really interesting, I'm glad I pressed the video link.

Now though, I hope it's buy-to-play. I have nothing against subscription games, but I'm tired of those.

If I still will be interested in this game when it comes out,  I think it will do great playing along with Guild Wars 2.

true to this and let me mention the flashing combat effects, those are always off putting. realism on combat effects not some street fighter 2 style flashing effects or soul calibur but i guess thats what gamers in asia wants but its defo minus market in west.

i personally want to see whats happening when i hit with my sword , when using these flashing effects you dont see nothing else than half circles of red and yellow and dmg numbers normally.
