You are working on the tenuously-supported belief that this Kickstarted MMO, or any other Kickstarted MMO will be completed and will meet your expectations of it. ;)

Not at all.  There's always a risk of failure.  But there's a risk of dying horribly every time you get into a motor vehicle.  Do you walk everywhere?  Well, there's always a risk that you'll get shot or mugged while walking, too.  It's a risky world out there, but it's fallacious to think that just because something could go wrong we should never try to do anything.

If a project doesn't interest you, don't back it.  If you're so paranoid that you might pledge $10-50 and it might not be worth the money, don't back it (even though you probably waste more money than that in a month on other crap that disappoints you).

My issue is with the people that assume that Kickstarting any MMO is a sucker's game.

What is the chance of a automobile accident? What is the chance of kickstarter not producting, or producing something you don't like? In fact, how many funded kickstarter project has produced MMOs?

Of course i don't back any KS. Not only it is a sucker's game, you don't even have to back it to get the benefit. Just let the other suckers back it. If the game, by some miracles, happens .. buy it then. No risk at all.

That's kind of a bleak outlook on life isnt it? If we as gamers dont show we believe in something then whats the chance of it ever being made? Think of it. If publishers nowdays are known for producing the same stuff, or im some cases less of it and are doing so in the hopes of faster money just because everyone keeps buying it.

What is the hope the industry will change? If you don't want to back it thats fine, but dont rail on others that do so, maybe we just want something different eh? Maybe we are sick of the business as usual? These guys arent publishers and they are speaking the language i have for 10 years, wanting the exact same things.

Very good, i will say. Lots of suckers are funding KS without me participating. Lots of indie development is going on without me believing in it.

You know what is the good news? I can just pick and choose the end result to have fun. With so many (indie included) trying, there bound to be some that is good entertainment.

And why would i hope that the industry will change? It works fine. It has provided me with lots of entertainment.

Don't get me wrong. I don't it mind it changing. So far, it is just producing more stuff for me to choose from. And I pay for entertainment, not to "back" anything.

That game TUGS is a bit budget for me  .

I would like MINECRAFT mmo but the graphics need to be as good as something like TERA .

And no blocks everywhere that just ruins the realism .  When I build things I want to see my character actually building things . I know it would be slow but that's what I want .

I am quite interested in seeing how this one turns out.  The offline option is actually pretty cool for me.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

Trust me when i say they'll have enough realism in the game. :p Still you have to get all those resources yourself anyway.

No need to ruin your fun over complete realism.

Congrats and good luck.  Definitely an area I'm happy to see getting experimentation.

First of all, good basic concepts for a sandbox mmo, I applaud the Devs for that.

However... if I am going to play and pay for a sandbox mmo, which in many ways seeks to replicate some aspects of real life, then I also desire to see it LOOK as realistic as possible. Graphics Style of this is a fail for me. I do not play "cartoony" MMOs.

Feel free to pass my thoughts along to the Devs. Seems like a good bunch of People. Maybe some day they will make a MMO that utilizes a much more realistic graphics style.

(for me to enjoy the gameplay in a MMO, it must look as real as possible, and it must be set in a Virtual world that looks realistic. Designing great gameplay in a cartoon is not enough for me. Create a realistic graphics style sandbox MMO in a MASSIVE realistic looking virtual world, and THEN I will help financially support it thru a KS program. Nothing less.)

Congrats!   Even though this doesn't seem like something I'd be interested in, nice to see indie projects being funded for all sorts of gamers.
