Places like Gamespot are a joke as well... charging $5 less for a used game compared to a new one. When ever I've bought games from them and they told me I could save $5 on used, I just laughed at em and told em they'd have to do a lot better then that.
The only thing the XboxOne did for sure was to kill the WiiU. That is the market they are targeting and with a very simple interface (IF it will work as advertised... Big IF but still) and a all in one product they will even cut a chunk out of the PS4 market by offering more bang for the buck. They will prolly loose a good amount of gamers but we are not interesting any more. As a market group we are obsolete. There is a way larger market in the casual group and they aim to win by offering a little bit to everybody and thus take all the households that only want(or can afford) one console.
Now the funny thing is that Sony wins either way as the Xbox have a blu-ray player (hench why the sony stock sky rocketed) and they will most likley win the "gamer-wars"
I think the Xbox ONE will be more suited for one person in a bachelor pad, and not really suited for a family. If kids want to play games and the parents want to watch TV, then they will be fighting over it. Also will not be easy to take the Xbox ONE to a friends house as if you do, you take the TV with you. So for a family you will still need a TV box and a console.
The Wii U wins here, if kids are playing Wii U, Dad comes home and wants to watch TV, then the game can be transferred from the TV to the screen controller. No need to buy an extra TV. Also console can easily be taken to friends house.
The only reason Wii U is losing is lack of games and lack of support
WII U launch is slow do to only one big first party title SMBU...however if you look at how insane the 3ds is doing its due to the first party titles, The Wii U is following the same growth patterns as the 3ds.
The crazy thing about the Wii U is just how compatible they made everything. And now with Pikmen 3 being able to use the wii mote, on the gampad, off the tv. there are like 3 ways to play every game. Sure I Don't play my WII U that much and stick to mainly PC games, I sure as hell watch netflix in bed on my gamepad every night.
I, like most other Nintendo Fans, are simply waiting for our 3D mario, zelda, smash bros and Mario Kart explosion at E3. If there is one thing the WII U does right, it is keeping the joy of bringing the system over to my friends house and playing with a bunch of people.

As for the rest of the doomsayers, Microsoft and Sony did not just pull these features out of thin air. Millions of dollars have been spent on market research and trend projection. They are both trying to serve the largest demographics with their consoles. Just because you don't like the features doesn't mean that the majority of the target consumers will not. I repeat what I have said earlier. Both consoles will do very well. Market shares are unlikely to shift significantly.
And finally, we still don't know most of the final details for both boxes. Speculating which one will be more popular now is simply based on personal bias and an intentional lack of reason.

Sorry i had to respond to 3. No you cannot turn Kinect off. if you do your console will not function. Kinect being on and unblocked is a requirement for the console to operate.

So, who won? Seems like nobody! There is a last place (wiiu) but theres no winner. Why? well, i'll say it this way:

Simple.. It has minority report style controls and i actually like the idea of a kinect.. Yes the gen 1 sucked something soft and salty and it will most likely take until gen 3 before it actually do anything good. But combine that idea with a device like the Rift and gaming will become a lot more fun and interactive.
Also the X-box have generally had better controllers in my mind since the games of this gen will most likely be pretty much the same on both machines i'l go with the one that tickles my imagination the most.

to be honest i kinda hate gimmick controls i dont fill like they give me more immersion, i am still acutley aware that its a controler, and a more pain to use one at that, i honestly think that the controlers we have had sincee the playstation one and orriginal xbox are good controlers, and im a fan of not fixing what isnt broken.
if i wanted something more physacly immersive i would go outside and play sports, . . . .. . which my wife dose drag me off for about twice a week .

At E3 I actually thought Xbox one seemed to have much less than PS4, and remember folks that is when Sony are going to do the detailed reveal on the console for the general public. Nope M$ have blown it with Xbox One, going TV seems like making a "Jack of all Trades Master of None" entertainment centre, and the people have stuff like Apple TVs, Smart TV or TiVos for viewing at the moment.
Seems like Xbox One will be competing with the Wii U for last place. Seriously though, I wonder what Microsoft was thinking. Why would anybody want... Xbox... to watch... TV? We can already watch TV on just about every device including Tablets and Phones. Wouldn't you already have TV available in some form if you own a TV that you're hooking the Xbox One up to?

Again point is that Xbox One CAN control your set-top box so you have one interface for both gaming and TV. Xbox One isn't set-top box, its just way to unified control.

Boy, Microsoft is sure trying hard to prove it is still useful to all the old people who care. Not to mention that, physically, Sony was more stylish with the 1979 Betamax vcr. Letting me down, Xbox... Forza can suck it... That's why I have a PS3, since Forza was, at best, a one-legged imitation of Gran Turismo. And I LOVE Halo, (reach was the reason I bought the 360- I assumed I would get more games for it-effin AssU and Umption all over again) but not enough to get the One. CoD can suck it, and I pretty much refuse to play any games published by EA, sooooo.... Sticking with my PC. And Probably going to buy a PS4. Microsoft sux.

To be honest, I think the Wii U is the Console that could support an mmo the best. The tablet controller could lend itself nicely to the UI piece etc.
Being an avid PC gamer, I won't be purchasing an XboX or a PS4. However, if the right game comes out, I could be a Wii U owner.
