Is it worth buying rift standard edition now?
Ok on amazon I can see you can buy rift for £1.50, here is the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rift-Standard-Edition-PC-DVD/dp/B004KNYC8O/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1369735545&sr=1-4&keywords=rift If I buy it will I have access to the extra character slots as I can't work out if they're just selling the disk to install as it is so cheap?
Is it worth buying for 1.50 and will i get the extra character slots and bags? thanks in advance!

IMO RIFT was never worth £1.50, but then again you probably don't care what I think

For the price of 1.50? Go for it, you get 6 character slots per server, 5 bag slots for your characters (Trust me you'll need those) If you buy Storm Legion you'll get the extra class setups without having to pay for those. There's a lot to gain from a 1.50 pound investment.
By 12 of June when f2p starts, you will get RIFT + the content of the Storm Legion expansion, but not the new expansion soul (1 out of 9). You will have 2/6 char slots and 3/5 starting bags. You will also considered as a ''Free User''.
If you buy RIFT now, as you said, you will considered as a ''RIFT Owner'' and have all the char and bag slots, but not the Storm Legion soul.
If you get now the raptr reward http://raptr.com/game/Rift/rewards/rift-storm-legion you will get everything for free. RIFT + Storm Legion + 30 days of game time. You will considered as a ''Storm Legion Owner'' and have all the souls, char slots and bags.
Just keep in mind that in the case of the raptr reward, as any other mmo that offers 30 days free game time, you must setup a payment method. Either with a pre-paid game time card or a credit card. If you choose credit card, you can take the 30 days reward and cancel the subscription before it charges you.
For the past subscribers that wants the Storm Legion expansion with the raptr reward, they will be charged, because there is no 30 days free for them.

Was gonna say this, the raptr reward is the way to go here. As far as the line I quoted, you can get around this by doing a live chat with support and having the rep apply the code to your account if you are looking to unlock storm legion. That's what I did to get it without paying a sub to input the code. Just a heads up if you are in that situation.

It's legit. I've been a member with raptr for a couple years. I *think* one of the creators worked/helped create xfire (I could be wrong here) and it's in the same vein as xfire. It's basically a chat client that supports different IM networks/ facebook for games with an overlay similar to steam (optional). I would probably use it more if it supported steam chat without having steam running, but it's decent at what it does. The only IM app I've found that supports steam without steam running is Pidgin with a 3rd party plugin, but that doesn't have an overlay. Little off topic but yeah, it's legit.
As for how you get the 14 hours played, you use Rift Lite which allows you to get to level 20 as a sort of trial. You can also just leave it on the char select screen and it will track that as game time.
