This is a great FTP MMO...

Hello!

I normally don't post much here, I'm more of a lurker:P But I wanted to say something about Neverwinter so far.

I don't know why this FTP MMO gets so many negative comments. Now I'm completely aware of personal preference but as a game in general there is nothing wrong with this game. In my opinion it's even exactly what I'm looking for right now.

I like the crunchy combat, the tell system, the fat sounds of weapons clashing, the Neverwinter athmosphere I was hoping for and much more I completely dig. Sure the game isn't perfect, and exploitrantx100 but it's free and it's a proper game.

I'm glad I am having fun with an MMO after trying so fricking many after quiting WoW and Darkfall and I know that many people are looking for that 'next big mmo'. Stop looking for it and settle somewhere, it's what I did and I feel right at home in Neverwinter.

I'm happy I found this little free thing.

Cheers!

I agree and it's nice to see a post like this.   There are a couple things that need work, but what doesn't have room for improvement?   Glad you are having as much fun as I am.  Though I am still looking forward to EverQuest Next (not for the next big thing, but because I am a Norratian at heart who has fallen behind in EQ and hated EQ2), NW is a great game to enjoy until then.   Everyone wants this 'perfect' 'next big mmo' but we end up passing them by in this mindset.   I know I fall victim to this myself and because that, it has been nice to find a home in Neverwinter.

People even forget what made all the big mmos.  It was not that everyone was surfing from one mmo to the next and EQ and WoW were just that much better.  No, a majority of WoW and EQ players were first time MMO players.   What made those games the 'big mmo' of their times were the community that stuck with the game and helped out new players, something so hard to find again because we are all 'grading' mmos instead of enjoying them and building community within.   So it is a nice breath of fresh air to see a fellow player enjoying the game instead of criticizing it and pointing out all it's flaws.

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

As long as you are happy, no one can tell you what you enjoy. But expect a bunch of folks to respond and tell you why you are wrong.

I myself am also waiting for other mmo's like Wildstar for example, but that doesnt mean you cant invest in another mmo while waiting. I mean, we've been dissapointed with promising mmo's so many times now, sometimes the wait is for nothing.

The whole 'this game doenst have anything special' is lazy comment(read it a lot). Why? Put some effort into reading the journal pages etc. The game has so many references and lore:/ I guess most just skip the quest text and journal.....Or havent played games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights....

This game is highly underrated. People expect too much nowadays.

I suspect this game catches a lot of flack because the IP attracted a lot of people who are not used to F2P games. Hence they had their first taste of "how things are done" in this genre, and specially by one of the "leading" F2P publishers (PWE).

Because its garbage. Thats not an opinion at this point. The game is horribly made and poorly managed.

"In my opinion it's even exactly what I'm looking for right now."

Some people look for garbage, some want simple distractions with nothing to make them feel committed. That doesnt make it a great game or having quality. Just because it can tickle your pickle for an hour or two doesnt change what it actually is.

"I like the crunchy combat" "the fat sounds of weapons clashing"

You know a game sucks when the only description someone can give it is "crunchy" and "fat".  The combat is limited and poorly implemented. Not sure how you people think its "good". I might recommend going out and playing games with similar yet far more diverse combat systems.

    "it's free and it's a proper game"

As opposed to.... not free and improper? If thats how you define quality then we "gots" a problem.  These games are never truly free. If you want all it has to offer, you have to open your coffer (aka, its going to cost you). Furthermore, time is money, and if you have it they will try to get it out of you by making you spend more time so as to encourage you to pay as a means to spend less (time) for more (goods).

Now thats improper. It messes with good game design.

I'm starting to think that gamers are getting desperate to the point where even crap is looking appealing in their eyes.

NWO has the absolute worse chat system I have seen in any game so I am not for sure if this is a troll post or not.

Imo Neverwinter is like any other cryptic game: It's super fun at first but gets dull pretty fast.

Was the best f2p MMO by far until morals went out the window in favor of cash grab.
