Talentless bands like Stained, Creed, Hoobastank, Chevelle, and Seether are really polluting the radio with their all-too-similar 3 chord songs and repetitive lyrics. I like progressive rock because you need some talent to even pull off the sound. Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Dream Theater, Enchant, and Queensryche are some examples of bands who have talent, yet each have an original sound. Ironically, those are the bands who make the least amount of money.

Three Doors Down - Even the name is real. No long hair, no lipstick, just hardrockin dudes with guitars. That is all.

Why do you judge music on how the person is real? WOW! LL Cool J hands out turkeys to people in the ghetto, removing maybe 0.00001% of his profit, his music MUST be good.

By the way, you have never experienced real death metal and Three Doors Down sucks.

We all have our likes and dislikes about music. Some take it to seriously. I personally dont like any of those bands you listed that you liked but I dont think they suck. I think talent is based on how good bands can make their music sound while you think the more notes the band plays makes them more talented. Im not saying that their music isnt good to others but not to me. By the way I dont think you know enough about chevelle to say all they have is 3 chord songs and repetative lyrics. I find them unique over other bands who play on the radio. I dont think you can judge a band from the 2 or 3 songs you heard on it.

Actually, I bought "Wonder What's Next" a few years back and thought it was just plain bad. So what, that is like the 11 songs they put out on that album?

    Boring.

Give me a break, Chevelle is just a weaker emo version of Tool. By the way, none of those bands Kiamde listed tries to impress by playing an insane amount of notes. The only band I can think of that may hold that reputation is Dream Theater and they are just well layered, that's the kind of sound you get when each skilled musician plays his instrument well.

I don't judge a band by how many notes are played, but the more variety and technique you get from the instruments makes the song have much more replay value. And that is exactly why a mainstream song is popular for a month and then is forgotten.

I think that todays music sucks now (generally, not including all bands some are still good) I listen only to old stuff now and wont even glance at any of the new rap oday (although i prefer rap) The only newish band i listen to is System of a down. Why i dont listen to rap now is simple. Its all just generic crap that say: hey im a pimp and i pimp hoes, hey look at my glock, its shiney. ummm yay, yea blah blah guns kill you blah crap. Even eminem is loosing his edge. WTF was his new album it was crap. there was maybe 3 good songs on it. All i ask for a rap with a twist. Rap about sumthing not gay or played out god...

Well back to my eminem song

    Am I ever wrong??

Hmm...let me express some hate here for a second

The following bands are a pathetic excuse for music, most likely because they play the same 5 notes really high, and really fast, heavily accented with overdrive pedals, wah-wah's (sometimes) and slide accents.
These bands are for the simple minded that find the use of diluted, meaningless metaphors and similes such as "My arms are like pinecones, " and most definitely is not the rampant use of words such as "autumn, " "heart, " "knife, " "bleeding, " "leaves, " and "razorblade." good music.

Get another girlfriend and shut up.

    -Alexisonfire
    -Fallout Boy
    -Hawthorne Hights
    -Green Day, sorry.
-MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE..oh god..they not only sound bad, their songs are simple.
    -Avenged Sevenfold
    -Atreyu
    -Slipknot
    -All American Rejects
    -Panic! At the Disco
    -From First to Last
    -SAOSIN...oh, come on.
    -My American Heart
    -Senses Fail
    -Taking Back Sunday
    -Dashboard Confessional
    -A Heartwell Ending

    I know I missed a lot.

Oh yeah, I'm not going to mention my music because you probly can figure it out(and the list is too long.).

Because without realness all you get is Milli Vanilli. Hey they made some top 40 stuff in the 1980's didn't they, but it was all synthesisers and lip syncing.

I don't like Death Metal because it's fake like WWF wrestling. Death blood darkness blah blah blah meanwhile they're just musicians. If you're really badass you should go join the army, or become an axe murderer. You know what a musician is? Its an ARTIST. Not a tough guy. Not a mafia hitman. Not a spawn of satan. Just a performer.

Aight? So pull your f*cking pants up, cut your f*cking hair, wipe the f*cking paint off your face, you're not a killer, or a demon, or a hitman from compton, no matter how many dumb highschool kids believe that you are.

Whatever criticism of Three Doors Down, at least they don't pretend to be who they're not. They're just some guys playing rock n roll.

Country music is like %90 posers, they all live in condos but they sing like they're livin on a farm in the middle of Kansas.

Rap is has alot of posers, most of em live in suburbs and shop at The Gap, but from their songs you get the impression that they're contract killers as well as singers.

Heavy Metal takes the cake tho. Almost all of em wear makeup. Some of em wear facepaint, and try to act like they're satan worshippers, or like they're some kind of psychopathic killer. Remember Rob Zombie? My god, what a poser. Guy tries to make out like he's Charles f*cking Manson and he's some regular white guy that lives in California. LOL

Assclowns, all of them. And damn our highschool kids are so stupid they worship them.

Any band that spends more time on their makeup then their music isn't worth listening too.

CHECK OUT KYUSS, they kick ass and nobody has ever heard of em. I want them on the mainstream!::::32::

Don't tell me you like that vanilla alternative heavy rock crap. Older 98-2001 System of a down is exponentially better than their newer albums. Just my sweet opinion.

    Best new[ish] rock band: Clutch.

ummmmm clutch is far from a new band in fact they have been around longer than system of a down.

i remember seeing clutch on headbangers ball many years ago maybe close to 10 years ago if not more. As for my fav i would have to say its a band noone here has prolly ever heard of called sam black church. they are from boston and mainly play small clubs i remember my band shared a stage with them a few times. I have a lot of respect for a band that can turn down a record deal and just keep doing there thing for the fans.

Why don't you all just stop listening to the radio and actually develop a personal taste in music...I don't know how people actually enjoy the bland, repetitive crap that the radio plays.

I can't agree more! I don't listen to the radio here because it's all mainstream crap rerolled over and over in which I stay out of and far away from. Think outside the radio!

I'd consider 8-10 years old pretty new. Wasn't pitchfork a 04' album? Anyways, Clutch reinvents themselves every album, so I would consider them a new band, 10 years from now if they keep on producing albums.

You are right. I HATE the radio and never listen to it. Either i listen to Eminem, Pink floyd, or w/e my brother has in his car. Oh btw, Led Zep's Stairway to heaven is an AMAZING song

I used to listen to Rap in early 90' when it was just comming out

Run DMC , Public Enemy , NWA

But ever since rap entered the mainstream it became crap. Nowdays it is hard to find a good hip-hop ( as they call it now - and what a stupid name that is ) But still here and there something listenable comes up.

Today i listen to wierd mix of music - what ever strikes my fancy ... But i mainly perfer alternative and hate pop

Anyways big thumbs up to MMORPG community that listens to rock ::::28::

Stairway To Heaven is severly overrated

Easy acoustics, easy drums, easy bass, accented with ugly vocals thanks to Robert Plant. Black Dog is much better, even though I hate the vocals.
