How to get into the game and get interested??

DolmongDolmong Member Posts: 515

Hi guys, I am itching to want to play again!

However, after like 1-2 years of playing, I can say that I can't even know how to do combat !!!

I just don't have any ideas and people keep giving me out stats and stuffs makes it even harder for me to enjoy!

All I did was trying to get some money from trading market, or mining sometimes.

Now I like to come back and play the combat part of the game!  Either low sec or PvE that gives me lots of money!

Please let me know how to enjoy the game !!!

Just join a good corp that will take you out into dangerous places. However, I know some people can't seem to take losing ships and are very risk averse....

Your best bet would be a corp. You are nothing without one and you will go nowhere without one. Aka, you need to be part of one. Beside that... well... its all about training up the skills. Money = power and with a corporation behind you and some time you can at least stand on two legs.

Honestly besides that... build up skills... and... well... power = Money. Theres honestly not all that much to the game, the depth comes from trading (aka getting money) and being in a team (corp) outside that its very simple.

    Stop worrying and start doing.

If you want to get into the pvP side of things, well there's never been a better time since maybe 2005. T1 frigates and cruisers are very well worthwhile these days - the T2 ships aren't really much better now, especially for just solo boatviolence.

Pick a ship you like the look of - it really doesn't matter all that much which one, and buy a bunch of them. Start looking for fights. At first you'll lose all the time. Then you'll nearly win. Then you'll start occasionally winning. Each fight is one you should learn something from, about traversal, drones, range, tracking, whatever. The point is that you'll really get to know the capabilities of your ship. When you feel that you've mastered the Rupture or the Moa or the Punisher or whichever ship you've picked, try another one. This one should be a lot easier to master, because you'll be able to apply many of the insights and piloting skills.

There it is. As soon as you stop worrying about your space ISK or your killboard stats or your SP per hour any of the other irrelevant bullshit, the sooner you can have fun.

If you want honoured 1v1s, join Red vs Blue and use that for you first 20-30 practice fights. later, venture into lo-sec and try pirating, or NPC 0.0 and try hunting.

Pretty quickly, you should come into contact with groups who like doing similar things. Once you join a group like that, EVE really takes off, and you can start learning gang tactics too.

The FHC guys are the bitterest of bittervets, but they know what they're talking about when it comes to this kind of thing.

Find a group first - a corporation to join.

Personally, I'd recommend EVE University.   It teaches about the game and you can get a good deal of practical hands-on in different parts of the game but it does tend to be a bit constraining on how you operate.

It's a "polite" environment (enforced rules) and designed to help new players learn about the game - as in you won't get called a bunch of names for making mistakes and such.  That is expected.  The language and rules on manners may not fit how you like to communicate and act but it's a good spot to start out for learning such things.

Get involved in their various campuses - lowsec, nullsec, wormhole and try things out to see how you like operating in those kinds of space and pick an environment for your 'next step'.

Once you decide on a direction that meets your style of play, then you can join groups in the area that interests you -- be that lowsec/NPC nullsec piracy, wormhole life through major nullsec alliance warfare.

It's a good group to grow from and they expect people to "move on" - even having a forum for other groups to recruit from their membership.

I second that. Join the uni, learn the basics (you will probably notice you know a lot already), join the three uni campuses for losec, nullsec and wormholes for a few weeks each, and make a decision which life is most fun for you.

By then you will have learned a lot about many of the other corps and very likely have a good idea who you want to join.
