World of Warcraft recently saw with deployment of the Escalation update to the game that brought some significant narrative elements and quests into the game. In our latest WoW Factor, we examine what it is that players have to look forward to. See what's new and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.
After speaking with Lorewalker Cho, I was asked to participate in two of the four new scenarios, Blood in the Snow and Dark Heart of Pandaria. These two scenarios show us the latest happenings with the Alliance and Horde, respectively. Regardless of which faction you play however, you are still able to participate in both scenarios by way of Cho’s Dream Brew in the Seat of Knowledge.

These solo scenarios, while good at advancing the story/lore, just left me puzzled after I completed the thunder isle ones. When 5.3 hit and the first thing to do was another solo scenario, it was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I un-subed because of it.
I just think MMO's miss the point if you're not playing with others. If I want solo stuff I can play solo games.
Spent a fair part of saturday afternoon doing the escalation stuff, not a bad way of gearing up alts (in this case the shaman I dinged 90 on friday). By sunday I'd finished the throne of thunder lfr and was decked with average ilvl 481.
What they are offering is a catchup mechanic that allows progression via pve and pvp, yet people are still moaning.
MMOspace has a severely demanding audience.
Personally I am looking forward to the "cool new feature" that they will be announcing soon.
Leeching in Dungeons and Battleground wasnt enough...
Seriously tough, its kinda sad they need to take away evrything mmo's stand for.....
Working for gear
Working together
Working towards a goal as group / guild
Today its nothing more then a solo lobby game...
You queu for battlegrounds with random people you never see after that.
You queu for dungeons with random people you never see after that
You queu for raids with random people you never see after that
This wasnt enough it seems and now they introduce solo escalations ?
Whats next blizzard ? buying level 90 chars in fully decked legendery's and epics for 50 euro ?
I dont know what blizzard is thinkign or what they still want to eachieve in WoW....
If anything they should look back and point the finger at where the pain started and try to fox what harmed wow.
They totaly disconnect people from each other, patch after patch and expansions after expansion.
People say nostalgia is the reason why people look fondly back to ancient wow.
It may be, but let me tell you as a player where noticed, you builded a reputation and people knew what kind of player you where.
It was like a small village where evrybody knew evrybody, and you needed each other to get something done.
From doing dungeons or leveling doing elite quest or your special class quest.
You made friends that lasted a long time...
Community's were forged in 2004/2005, and it ended with cross realm battlegrounds and payed faction transfers..
Random dungeons finder and raid finder...
WoW the story of a boy that defeated titans and became legend only to see its downfall where you look to the right side where a junky shotting his arms full with shit just to get that extra mile.
Escalations......China called their bots want to solo epics.
Sad stuff if you think about it realy, Blizzard go back to the roots of mmo's.
Playing a game where you do effort for your gear.
Playing a game where you needed each other
Playing a game where you made friends lasting for years
Playing a game where you felt proud wearing that piece of gear even if it was a reputation epic.
Ah what am i thinking
I hope Blizzard see what they did to the genre, to WoW, to their name, and dont make the same mistakes with their new mmo.
Lets hope Titan got scrapped / delayed becuase they have seen the light and dint want all that fast food junk once more.
back to them roots where mmorpg's where made for die hards.

I completely agree. I don't play WoW anymore, and my hubby and I quit earlier this year for good. We'd been with it since the launch, and hell, we even met in it! That was back before LFG however, and I think that was a mistake to the community. It has never been easy to find friends in that game since. It's rather tragic when you remember all the good times even if they were a bit of a hassle to find a group. People did not have such high expectations of their group members before LFG either. You were in a group and you stuck with it if you really wanted to finish that instance.
You've a fantastic optimism about you.
But..
Why solo in an MMO you're forking $15 out to monthly, when you can play an actual solo game on your computer, which is 20 times better? The point of MMORPGs is to bring you together with others. That is why it is online. It's not suppose to function as a single player, ever.
These aren't solo scenario's they are regular type ones. U have 3 players no tank or heal needed and u run the. I don't understand why u thinnk they are solo. They aren't yes thunder isle was but these aren't
If you don't know the answer to that, you have some thinking to do.
Because people on this site don't read when it comes to their WoW bashing lol.
My turn!
The patch 5.3 Actually has drawn me back to wow. I guess I am swimming up river with this one. Now then about the gear thingy. Well if there was one thing I wanted to do in Mists it would be to be able to go up to Garosh and give him the beating he deserves.
Anyway I do not have a geared up character yet. Its kinda nice for us who do not have gear to be able to gear oursevles up to be able to take part in the game quickly insteed of just sitting around hopping to find a guild to join. (mine died early in mists. yep a 6 year old guild gonne, mostly thanks to the raid lockout system)
Back in the old days you would never be able to gear up all yours alts with gear. You where lucky to be able to gear up one of your characters at all. Fine gear was more special back then. But I for one do enjoy that you can get your character raid ready a bit more quickly today.
Anyway Garosh here I come! Maybe....
So your strategy to draw people into your playstyle is to judge and belittle them?
