By this I am talking about what kind of MMO you are looking for. What's that one Mmo that your are looking for that would make you drop the Mmo you are playing. But also make you not even look twice in the direction of an mmo thats due to be released, or already out. So the question still stands "WHO ARE YOU!!!!".

Lengthy levelling. Lots of cosmetic content and minipets (emphasize the LOTS). Action-style and tab-targetting at your leisure, with commensurate rewards for each. Indepth crafting. More quests than any one person can reasonably ever do, mixed with yummy player-created content. No cash shop -or- a cash shop that isn't cosmetic content only (if I have to pay for my content, why don't other people?) Sub'bed. Strong raids, but not so strong as to be a job replacement. Voluntary grouping. Hireling/NPC aids for help in taking on dungeons (skill curve to use them well is perfectly acceptable). Player housing/decorating/furniture crafting. Skills that are actually useful in dungeons, particularly regarding traps and rogues (similar to DDO, without predictability). Quality lore is a must. Oh, and pet classes.
Turn off: Forced PVP. 100%, every time, no exceptions turn off. This includes 'voluntary' pvp where the pvp only exists in the zones that just happen to have stuff that virtually everyone will need (high-level crafting mats, for instance). 'Cosmetic' cash shops. Lack of interesting outfits. Forced grouping for more than 20% or so of the quests (not including dungeons/raids). Bland, uninteresting armors where every high-level of a class look alike.
This is pretty close to what I'm looking for. Death penalty would be great. Slow combat that requires coordination between players and choices about when to use certain abilities or skills would seal the deal for me. Races and classes that are DIFFERENT would be nice too. Someone else recommended Istaria and I will try it as soon as I boot to Windows but it doesn't have a death penalty.

A virtual world without any limits to what you can do, except the laws of the ingame world nature. In other words: a world like UO and beyond, with updated graphics and animations. A world where i can measure my mental, social, diplomatic and motor skills against others real human beings.
Kinda weird to say this about an MMO, but complete independence.
Let me learn everything and everything in the game on one character, let me build everything including brick and board housing and let me fly.
But give us lots of goals that take a team to finish - bosses, world events, crafting...
Who am I?
I am looking for a Sandbox Fantasy MMO. One where I am thrown in to a living world, without classes. I want a ton of abilities to use and increase in skill as I use them. (UO Style). So If I want to be mainly a melee combat with a bit of magic I can. Full customization of my own character. I want my character to become stronger, so even I had on a weak iron sword I could still do good damage. I want gear to compliment my character, not own it.
I want a big open world to explore, non instanced. Buyable plots of land to do what I wish, build houses, a blacksmith to build weapons for crafting, or my own boat to sail the seas. I want big exploreable dungeons in the open world to explore solo, or with a group of friends that constantly spawn monsters and gets harder the deeper you go. I want meaningful quests, nothing puts me off more then getting to a new zone and have 40 Exclamation points over peoples heads wanting me to do retarded fetch quests. Cut quests down, make them more epic requiring time or teams of people so I can feel like I completed an epic quest and not stupid tasks.
This main world to explore would have consensual pvp, but with an entire area on the outskirts of the world would have open FFA PVP where guilds could come together to build castles/towns or just claim existing pre built fortress with the option to construct homes within. Territorial warfare, different territories would have different materials and have reasons for guilds to fight over and try to conquer all. I guess I what I mean is EvE Null, just in a fantasy setting. Some days I just want to PvE, gather, craft, other days I want to defend something that holds value to me. Not just capture the flag mini games.
Bring back crafting, make it meaningful not just a side job. Add different qualities to crafting. A master crafter will have a better chance of crafting a 99/100 or 100/100 mastercrafted weapon that gives slightly more damage, make it a low percentage so these weapons and armor can have a value. People will pay out the nose to get Mastercrafted gear, its rare and will require dedicated crafters who can get paid for what they like to do. One thing I remember enjoying about DAoC.
I could go on and on. Simply I am looking for a world to play in. To do what I want, when I want. I feel MMOs have focused 100% on combat and gear, they have forgot all the other awesome features that could make an Awesome MMORPG experience.
Thanks for that, saves me the trouble of typing the post, as you just described the MMO I am waiting for. I just hope it ever comes our way.
A game to fill the few free moments of my life that I can enjoy and feel like I am progressing in.
MMORPG standards for me:
- Class system with advancement
- Loot rarity and customization
- Cosmetic personalization
- Normal Auction House mechanics
- No Open World PVP
- Active and Verbal Community
- Fantasy themed
- Low Graphic requirements
Not picky, nor do I want a Sandbox.
I played WoW up until WotLK, played RoM for 2 years and now Rift.
I am F2P player. I support games when I feel they deserve my money and I want the items enough.
I don't troll, and I don't take kindly to trolls.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding an MMO, judging from the amount of MMOs out now, that are exactly as you write there :-)
I'm looking for a virtual world as well. No classes, only skills. Lots of customization, player housing (non instanced), no loading screens, player cities, item decay which in turn gives a deep and usefull crafting scene. And lastly, NO cash shop, whatsoever.
Agreed, i'd pay to play that game, no problem...
