The animations felt really cheap when I tried out the game the first time. The second time the cash shop killed it for me. It just didn't work out at all. I hated it. It felt like Allods when it launched, and that game plummeted because of the cash shop. I just can't see this actually doing bad in any sense, simply because a lot of people liked the original so much and are willing to forgive pretty much anything as long as it still holds the name. The first one required a sub for a very long time, I feel like maybe they should have taken VIP a different path, don't add stats, just add exp boosts, or some other form of boost like item drop rate or something. It just kills the entire game being forced into buying anything and I'm not saying that as an advocate of truely free games, I'm saying that because it becomes pay to win.

nope. nothing can beat RO1, its one of the best well made MMO of its genration

    So What Now?

I agree with the review. Played to lvl 30-something and said "meh". It's interesting how in RO2 there aren't enough healers and in Tera not enough tanks. Guess the least played classes are the hardest and need to be improved.

    Cheers.

P.S. Even Alpha version of Lime Odyssey felt more enjoyable.

RO1 is the best mmorpg ever, but what if the devs ddint waste their time with RO2: RO1 would have been a lot more complete than it is right now cuz there's no quest exp with common items and gold as rewards and it's not suited for a world pvp like other modern mmo's.

But now, it's too late for RO1 and RO2 is dying quick even as a free game.

It is refreshing to see that mmorpg.com has finally decided to do some real reviews instead of always handing out the prizes.  Hopefully they will continue this type of review instead of the hype meter ones we used to get.

I tend to agree with everything in this review. (though tbh i felt it was more of an 8 in looks)

    RO2 is pretty, really pretty.

Sadly that's the only thing it has going for it.

Anyone who thinks RO 1 wasn't pay to win didn't play iRO for very long. Just saying.

As terrible as the writing of this review is, it is also pretty accurate. It's a decent time sink if you have nothing else to play, but not worth any real focus.

    Slow leveling?

Compared to so many games, including the original RO (before any EQ like "We're now like WoW with our ability to level like crazy and easily!" updates, it's ridiculously fast..

You gain sooooo many levels from quests and if you do it with a group of people that are on the same quest line as yourself you can blow through an entire maps quests in 30 minutes, along with 3-5 levels..

The graphics are fantastic while having low requirements also which is almost unherad of with newer mmo's and their desire to just soup up the requirements with more textures/shadows/lighting effects instead of trying to give it any kind of style or art..

But ultimately there isn't a lot to do once you've grinded, got your second job, and gone through all the dungeons until you get to max/near max level.  Other then creating a new character and trying out a new job I suppose.

Ragnarok 1, one of my favorite games that got ruinned by bots.

I just have to say the game is ****ed!

Devs have no idea how to run a working business model.

There's items in the game that sell for $100+ on 2ndary market ($100 in cash shop items). Take a look at trading forums if you don't believe me. The economy is messed up. The gap between players are way too big and it's pretty much pay to progress especially if you want to do high level raids. Customer service is crap. Ticket has not been worked on in days!

Invest in a better game. Don't give this company any money.

Nowadays unlockables and collectibles aren't really anything innovative, please tell me this part of the review is just titled incorrectly.

News just in: bots can MVP and do WoE.

I loved RO... The guild I was even created a special guild title for me: "More Cards than Vegas", because I was so obsessed with the card system.

I've no interest in the sequel though.

Just deleted this game, every patch they put out hackshield caused issues. Then found out hackshield installs a hidden program in your device manager which has no effect on hackshield or the game (so what does it do). So hackshield is meant to stop botters and cheaters but it doesn't, all it does is cause issue for honest players everytime they patch.

***Warning.. Stay away from games using hackshield***

(unless of course your a botter or cheater, then just get the workaround and go for it )

This game was released in working order and with every patch they create more bugs. The common term most people used before 99% of the community up and left in rage was BUGNORAK. Not only this they seem to spend 99% of the office hours on keeping up with moderating the forums because sooo many people have negative things to say not only concerning bugs. The publishers also play the game and give out free items only playing favorites. Whole guilds leave constantly because the end game content is so buggy everyone exploits it and every time they play favorites by taking the castle away from one exploiter only to give it to another. There are soooo many things wrong with this game and blatant lack of care shown by the developers and publishers.

That being said they will wrongfully ban people not using exploits and not ban the people actually using them. There is nothing but case after case of poor customer support and seriously this games redeeming qualitys are being ruined by a greedy company every day. No apologies have ever been given out for any game breaking bugs, and believe me every patch there is dozens of bugs and exploits introduced.

    Well to put it curtly.

    No, it can not.
